Problems with Chronology?
editIf the office of proedros was first conceptualized/instituted under Nikephoros II Phokas, how could the costume of a proedros be described in "De Ceremoniis"? Constantine VII Porphyrogenitos reigned from 913 to 959, and Nikephoros II from 963 to 969 - so De Ceremoniis predates the title of proedros by at least four years, almost certainly more. Were there later additions to the text, or is this statement entirely false? Regardless, Constantine VII himself certainly did not write about proedroi. This statement needs to be clarified, revised, or removed entirely. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Sleepless Emperor (talk • contribs) 19:48, 13 January 2010 (UTC)
- The De Ceremoniis is a compilation from various sources, and revised and added upon in the reign of Nikephoros Phokas. This explains the presence of the proedros. Regards, Constantine ✍ 14:40, 14 January 2010 (UTC)
