editA primer is also a reading book aimed at learners of a language, especially young children. Do we need something on that, or can we put a link to a more general topic? -- Tarquin 17:00 Jan 10, 2003 (UTC)
- When I linked to it from another page, I added a brief stub about the textbook, that mentions the New England Primer. I also added another brief stub about "primer" as a kind of paint. Smerdis of Tlön 02:49, 8 May 2004 (UTC)
Suggested action impacting disambiguation
editI would suggest that this article be moved to Primer (molecular biology) and that Primer (disambiguation) be moved to Primer. This would be in accordance with WP:DAB, section 2, item 2:
- "Equal" disambiguation: all articles are moved to distinct names, and the "Mercury" page becomes a disambiguation page — a simple list (or sentence) that points to those specific articles, perhaps explaining the differences among them.
I think that item 3 (Primary topic) does not apply in the case of the current use of Primer.
P.S. this comment came out of my looking for primer in the paint sense; I am a molecular biologist by training so I'm all for high profile for science and molbio, I just don't think the current usage is in the interests of best practice in navigation.
