Needs updating, trimming
editA lot of this should be replaced with more recent info. One example early in the article:
"Although Trump was the Republican nominee, he has signaled that the official party platform, adopted at the 2016 Republican National Convention, diverges from his own views.[13] According to a The Washington Post tally, Trump made some 282 campaign promises over the course of his 2016 campaign.[14]"
I agree in that so much of this article was written prior to his presidency (many sources around 2016); his political views prior to becoming president are much less relevant to what his actually did as president. Suprisingly, there is little written about what he did as president from 2016-2020. Jskalski (talk) 17:03, 9 October 2024 (UTC)
Also, the birtherism section isn't a political position, and we don't need to copy everything from other articles about Trump.
The section on disabilities doesn't say anything.
This page needs a lot of trimming but people get upset when you delete stuff.
I agree with the statement above. It is hard to trim a charged political page like this, but it requires less of a history about prior political beliefs and more of a neutral reporting of what happened during his presidency. Actual political behavior is more relevant and predictive of future political behavior than prior political beliefs. What President Trump actualy did from 2016-2020 needs to be come through more.Jskalski (talk) 17:03, 9 October 2024 (UTC)
Trump, Trumpism, presidency, 2024 campaign, RNC, Project 2025, Agenda 47. So much duplication! Seananony (talk) 02:57, 6 August 2024 (UTC)

"sometimes referred to as Trumpism"
editI think this statement is a bit misleading, as not his political positions alone, but the totality of these positions and their implementation, dissemination and defense by Trump and his supporters are referred to as Trumpism. To me, it appears like Trump's positions are part of Trumpism, but the two terms are not identical; if his political positions in isolation would be synonymous with Trumpism, this article would be kinda redundant.
