Despite the sheer size of this brilliant-looking article (~110 KB at this writing), I'm taking a shot at this biography of a 19th-century Brazilian ruler. However, such stuff is far beyond my current interests, and the article takes time to load on IE8 (at least on the system I'm accessing), so I'll give another user a chance to review it.

• "Emperor Pedro I abdicated on 7 April 1831, after a long conflict with the liberals." I would link as to what liberals you're referring to here. Since I'm not well versed in Brazilian politics I have no idea. Done

• "Pedro II was faced by three crises during the decade between 1848 and 1852" I'd remove 'during the decade' since that doesn't feel right; after all, 1848-1852 is parts of two decades.
