I've just fixed the link to the PC riding association, which someone (Algonquinpark) had changed to point to the current PC candidate (David Hutcheon) instead of the riding association. This isn't the place for that. What is it about this riding that invites ineffectual dirty tricks during campaigns? 206.248.156.230 19:19, 5 October 2007 (UTC)Reply

New ED Name, New ED Article?

edit

As of 23 April 2024, the electoral district (ED) is now formally named: Taiaiako'n–Parkdale–High Park. Currently, there is a re-direct when the new name is used. It points to this article, the old name for the ED. Should a completely new article, based on this article be made? I think there is a good case for that, as there are slight differences in boundaries as well. Parkdale–High Park 1976–2024. Abebenjoe (talk) 01:45, 22 September 2024 (UTC)Reply

Considering all 3 major parties are referring to the ED under its new name ahead of the looming election, and the new name officially kicks on for any major election after April 23rd, 2024[1], I decided to WP:BOLD and rename the article. Still need to update the maps and boundary changes for the expanded ED size. —f3ndot (TALK) (EMAIL) 14:01, 9 January 2025 (UTC)Reply
I mean, it could use a completely new article because the boundaries have the most significant changes since 1976. However, that could still be covered in a section rather than a new article. Let's see how the name change handles it, and see if people come here to complain.– Abebenjoe (talk) 14:06, 9 January 2025 (UTC)Reply
It looks like people largely refer to the change as the same ED with a new name and area expansion instead of a "new" ED replacing the older one. To that end I think renaming the article vs creating a new one is most appropriate and least confusing. As you said, let's wait and see if it chaffs anyone —f3ndot (TALK) (EMAIL) 14:27, 9 January 2025 (UTC)Reply
I have moved it back. The new riding boundaries (and names) do not come into effect until THE NEXT ELECTION. The MP for this riding still represents Parkdale—High Park. -- Earl Andrew - talk 14:38, 9 January 2025 (UTC)Reply
