Read the Grove article in question, since mention of Schoeck's "alignment with Nazi policies" and association with serialism threw me. The latter apparently involved a brief period in his life, around the time of his opera Penthesilea; it might better be described as a flirtation with Bergian serial technique. The alignment with Nazi policy seems to have had deeper roots (even then, Goering ended up condemning one of Schoeck's librettos.)
