Gothic Serpent is an individual article
editHey guys, just a note there were NOT 450 Delta Operators in Task Force Ranger. In fact the size of Delta only consists of 200 or so Operators. Task Force Ranger consisted of around 450 men, but that included the Rangers, Delta, SEALs etc etc.
If anyone can find a source on it it'll be good. Mark Bowden's Black Hawk Down states the numbers but I cant find the page. - Sonny
- Good point and yet it is still in the article. The Army doesn't *have* 450 Delta guys. DMorpheus (talk) 21:29, 8 January 2008 (UTC)
Just a note: Operation Gothic Serpent is one thing and the Battle of Mogadishu is another. —John | Talk 23:03, 18 Jul 2004 (UTC)
- Agreed. This is the same mistake many make between Operation Desert Storm and the Gulf War. Desert Fox is only one side's operation.--James Bond 13:16, 16 June 2006 (UTC)
- Yes ; why not bring some parts of Battle of Mogadishu (i.e. Background, Mission shift to nation-building) in the Operation Gothic Serpent page ? And also bring all what is in Timeline of the Battle of Mogadishu in Battle of Mogadishu, and finaly suppress Timeline of the Battle of Mogadishu ? Rob1bureau
Expansion
editAs I said, this article with a little bit of work can stand on it's own, this article should deal with the lead upto Operation Gothic Serpent (there is a bunch of stuff on it on the Battle of Mogadishu page), the battles leading upto the Battle of Mogadishu, and the wind down of the operation and the consequnces. can someone fix this
editDuring the first hours of the battle, the MH-60 Black Hawk, Super Six One, was shot down by a Rocket Propelled Grenade fired from the ground. Although firing an RPG upwards from the ground is usually fatal to the shooter, he managed to survive. The pilots did not survive. However, the crew survived the crash landing and held off the advancing Habr Gidr militia until the one and only rescue team was able to recover them.
poorly written and confusing. it looks like someone just inserted the sentence about the upwards RPG without really reading the rest of the paragraph —Preceding unsigned comment added by 131.104.246.170 (talk) 02:59, 3 August 2008 (UTC)
