History and location

• "The date of construction of the first church is unknown". The date of the first church on this site?
  • Indeed, obvious point that I missed!

• "Restoration work was carried out in 1610, and further restoration in the 18th century destroyed the original details." I don't quite follow that, specifically what the linking "and" is trying to tell me. Destroyed the original details of the 1610 restoration? That the 1610 restoration also destroyed original details? Something else?
  • The Royal Commission source says "The chancel and nave are [dimensions] and probably medieval, but the church was restored in the 18th century and all the original details destroyed". Reworded the sentence, and hopefully it's clearer now.

• "Despite this, the church was in need of repair by the middle of the 19th century". What is "this" referring to here? Looks like it's that the details of the 18th-century restoration are unknown.
  • Despite the 1812 work, but on reflection that's not well worded, so I've changed it to "The church was in need of further repair by the middle of the 19th century".

Architecture and fittings

• "The walls have since been reduced to 5 feet". Did that happen naturally, or has the stone been nicked? Do we have any idea how high the walls would have been originally?
  • I'd guess that this was a deliberate act, probably to keep it from falling down on anyone exploring, but I don't actually know. The source (the Pevsner-equivalent for Gwynedd) only says "recently reduced" without further explanation.

• The external link[1] claims that the church would probably have had a thatched roof; is there any reliable evidence for that? Worth mentioning if so.
  • Not mentioned anywhere that I've seen, including the 1844 description (oops gave the wrong url in the article [2])

References

• Can you explain ref #1 to me? The citation text suggests that the relevant page numbers are 170–171, but the link takes me to pages 294–295. I can't see anything describing this church on any of those pages.
  • As above, incompetence on my part: I have a pro-forma template for these articles and forgot to change the default url even though I changed the page numbers and all the other bits of the reference!
