Note on family
editForgot to mention that part of the family information was from the German wikipedia page, about Eberhard Harnoncourt. DJRafe 20:06, 13 October 2007 (UTC)
Count and Graf?
editPlease excuse my imperfect understanding of the Almanach de Gotha etc, but in the full version of the name (line one) should there be BOTH 'Count' and 'Graf'? Surely they mean the same thing? Could someone better-informed than me please make sure that our etiquette is not slipping? At a pinch I'd guess that the first use here (the 'Count') is surplus, and that the 'Graf' is in the right place as it stands. Eebahgum (talk) 18:41, 10 November 2008 (UTC)
- Right, Graf is German for Count. Therefore do we eliminate the English or the German term? --Catgut (talk) 23:08, 11 November 2008 (UTC)
I think we should eliminate the English as the title is not English but European. As the second part of the title includes a German form, it might be legitimate to maintain the German term, or else one might substitute 'Comte' for 'Graf', which would be the French equivalent (I am guessing). For the present I am going to change it by simply removing the English title and inserting a comma, and then if that is not right I think the amendment will simply be for the preferred language for the word Graf. Hope that's okay, anyone else able to help? Eebahgum (talk) 00:19, 13 November 2008 (UTC)
- And unsurprisingly I was wrong! So I have amended it to say exactly what it says on 'thepeerage.com' which is the kind of published version. Why risk anything else? Eebahgum (talk) 00:41, 13 November 2008 (UTC)
