Records stop in 1950?

edit

Did I miss something? If the League continued past 1950, why does the record here stop in 1950? Trekphiler 12:35, 21 November 2006 (UTC)Reply

Because after 1951, most of the League's best players and prospects had been signed by Organized Ball, or had migrated to the Mexican League or a few independent leagues (the Manitoba-Dakota League comes to mind), and the average level of talent left in the NAL had dropped to minor league quality.
The other reason is that, once the color line was broken, the NAL was treated with indifference by the Black press and community, and it is now impossible to gather even marginally accurate and complete records. The league itself lasted until 1962, but it was made up of a few barnstorming semi-pro teams by that time. As much as we'd like to cover that period, there's not much to cover.
Perhaps we should add a coda to the article/stub about the post-integration NAL and its demise.
