Signifcance/Notability?
editThis thing is in such an early stage that I question whether it has yet reached any real level of Notability. Apparently there are only teams with any level of significant organization beyond paper. 2600:1004:B118:F21E:BC84:1A98:65BF:9CED (talk) 00:59, 30 July 2018 (UTC)
- Yes, it is probably WP:TOOSOON for notability as it does not have much in any significant reliable independent coverage. However, I will give a league the benefit of presumed notability until they miss their deadlines for actually launching, especially if they claim they are a "professional" league. If that happens, then a prod or AfD is in order. Yosemiter (talk) 01:12, 30 July 2018 (UTC)

The result of the move request was: Moved per my suggestion below. Since all participants at the RM (other than the initial nominator, who hasn't been back on-wiki since September 4), have agreed to my suggestion to disambiguate by "United States" and "Australia", and the RM has had a full listing, I'm going to WP:IAR and perform an WP:INVOLVED close. If anyone disagrees they may revert me immediately. — Amakuru (talk) 11:56, 18 September 2018 (UTC)
National Gridiron League (indoor) → National Gridiron League (indoor football) – The indoor football ambiguator appears to be the correct ambiguator in this case. 2601:589:8000:2ED0:71C0:9915:18E2:463E (talk) 02:01, 4 September 2018 (UTC) --Relisting. Iffy★Chat -- 11:06, 18 September 2018 (UTC)
- Support to distinguish between other "indoor" sports Indoor soccer. --Gonnym (talk) 08:15, 4 September 2018 (UTC)
- @Gonnym: "Gridiron" sort of already does that, but either name works in my evaluation (the gridiron page is only called gridiron football to disambiguate from other types of gridirons and American football pages, that name has been argued about many times though). I just thought "indoor" was more concise to use to disambiguate from the outdoor gridiron league (National Gridiron League) that is trying to launch in Australia. That page may also need a dab if this one gets more coverage, or if both simply fail to ever play, which is a distinct possibility with these kind of start-up leagues. - To be fair, "Football" is indeed a problematic word as it means different things in different places, but between the 2 options presented, I'd prefer the one proposed as "indoor" seems such a generic word to me (I personally had no idea what that meant) and while trying to see what the NC are, it seems there are none. --Gonnym (talk) 13:47, 4 September 2018 (UTC)
- The other issue might be that indoor football is also vague (as it is a dab page itself), indoor American football would be more exact but wordier and less concise, and arena football is technically incorrect as the NGL is not playing with the established Arena rules. The reason I named in "indoor" only was, as previously stated, for conciseness and that it is indoor gridiron as opposed to the outdoor version. In the the end, either is fine to me, I just prefer shorter forms of names when possible. Yosemiter (talk) 14:51, 4 September 2018 (UTC)

- Move to National Gridiron League (United States), and also move National Gridiron League to National Gridiron League (Australia). That seems to be the most accurate and precise way to disambiguate between the two competing entities. There is also no clear primary topic between them per page views: [1] — Amakuru (talk) 08:46, 16 September 2018 (UTC)
- Both suggestions seem reasonable. Especially as we get closer to the supposed 2019 start date of the US one, and the Australian league appears dead (like their website) after postponing their launch to October 2018. Less than a month from that point, I think we can reasonably assume the Australian league is never going to become the primary topic. Yosemiter (talk) 17:52, 17 September 2018 (UTC)
- I can support this. --Gonnym (talk) 11:49, 18 September 2018 (UTC)
