Moved from WP:RM#Uncontroversial proposals
edit- Narada → Narada Muni — Disambiguation —Cricket02 19:39, 12 February 2007 (UTC) If moved, please then redirect Narada to the Narada (disambiguation) page. Note: The page Narada Muni already exists but was only a redirect to Narada and I removed that redirect so the page is now blank. Cricket02 19:50, 12 February 2007 (UTC)
- This move is easy enough to complete, but then a lot of links would have to be fixed. Is Narada Muni not the primary meaning for Narada? -GTBacchus(talk) 04:08, 13 February 2007 (UTC)
- I'm not sure of that, there are a number of articles referring to "Narada" as can be seen on the disambig page. I am willing to fix all the links. Cricket02 06:46, 13 February 2007 (UTC)
- On second thought, I think you may be right about the primary meaning, hadn't thought of that, so it might be better to cancel this request and leave the reference to the disambig page on the Narada page and leave well enough alone? Cricket02 07:13, 13 February 2007 (UTC)
- I'm thinking that'll be the best, in this case. -GTBacchus(talk) 05:02, 14 February 2007 (UTC)

Narada is the son of Brahma
editThe article describes Narada as the son of a maidservant. But that's merely one of his births. His main birth is as the son of the god Brahma. Narada Muni and the Veena
editHi. I'd like to point out that, "He is depicted carrying a khartal (musical instrument) and tambura with the name Mahathi and is generally regarded as one of the great masters of the ancient musical instrument. This instrument is known by the name "mahathi"[3][4]" is something of a contradiction-- Tambura is a one note drone instrument that isn't necessarily difficult to, "master." once it's learned to be played effectively. The supporting link makes reference to his playing the Veena-- this is the purport of the Puranic literature. The Veena and the Tambura are related but distinct instruments. I think this should be changed but I'm a newcomer to editing Wikipedia articles so I thought I'd post in the talk section first.
Reference to Srimad Bhagavatam (Bhagavatam Purana- Mahapurana) illustrating Narada's use of the Veena.
Word used is, "vīṇā-pāṇiḥ" I believe if Narada played a Tambura the Sanskrit would be rendered differently. Also-- "Tam/nbura-Panih" would be anachronistic to the Vedic canon as, "Tambura" is derived from a Persian word according to Wikipedia's article on the instrument:
"The name of the instrument derives from Persian تنبور (pr. tanbūr) where it designates a group of long necked lutes (see tanbur). "
