Some notes.

edit

I noticed that the fantasy Naga was deleted by Garwig and not restored by 67.21.80.96. This is clearly a mistake; note that that Naga page links to a different one. It's entirely valid to have, say, a different page for dwarves in actual mythology compared to dwarves based off Tolkien & later. It's the same here. As for the Nagas in video games... I'll admit it's a tenuous connection, and that list is probably hideously incomplete, so it's a more reasonable deletion, but it seems somewhat okay for a disambig page. So I agree with 67.21.80.96 restoring it.

As for Darin Brown, people interested in his article can find out his psuedonyms. Even extremely notable people shouldn't really have entries just saying "Naga was once used as a screenname by Linus Torvalds" or whatever. He seems pretty far on the edge for notability if he "sometimes" is a guest-artist. Unless he was truly only known as Naga and this is a very notable figure, I'm in favor of deleting it and leaving this in the Darin Brown article or linked from the webcomic articles.

As for the Not a Golfer's Asshole definition, can someone go into that in more detail & confirm this? Google is a bit confused on the issue, showing other possible renditions, and this seems fairly niche. SnowFire 20:47, 17 April 2006 (UTC)Reply

I'm sorry if I forgot to add something back, did you restore it? -- 21:38, 5 May 2006 (EST)

Yah, it's all good now. That said, as I noted in the edit summary, perhaps that information should go into Naga (Fantasy) as well, or perhaps instead of? I'll leave that as your call.

I don't really see the necessity.

The new entry about a marsupial looks fishy (not even a link, etc.), but not being a marsupialologist, I'm not ready to delete it as yet. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Piledhigheranddeeper (talkcontribs) 16:36, 20 May 2008 (UTC)Reply

I can't seem to find a link to Nāga on this page. Considering this article considers the snake-deities the primary usage of the word, perhaps this page should be moved to Naga (disambiguation) and Naga should forward to the other article?Kotengu 小天狗 (talk) 08:49, 15 October 2008 (UTC)Reply

NAIR community to be added in Ethnic People section

edit

Dear contributors, wish you have a great day!

Myself Prasad Nair from Kerala region, India. I wish to bring one important note regarding the wiki article on word Naga.

Its a well-known fact that Kerala is totally a dedicated place for Naga-Snake worship presently and historically. As a matter of fact the major community in Kerala named Nair is the ethnic part of Naga worship. I will enumerate some points to visualize the Serpent Worshipping culture of Kerala and Nair Clan

1. The Clan name NAIR is evolved from the word 'Nakar' which represent the ancestors of 'Nair Clan'; the word 'Nakar' mean 'Nagadevatha/Serpent Worshippers.'

2. The NAIR houses historically had a portion of their private land dedicated for Naga Worship which we call as serpent grove (sarpa kavu). In Kerala, there are rules for protecting these serpent groves.

3. We see this Naga worshipping cult is till date present in its primitive form in Nair Traditions.

4. The Sahyadri Mountain is named after the Naga Worshipping cult of Kerala. Sa + Ahi + Adri = Sahyadri.

5. Our clan consider the Nair Culture is the primitive form of Serpent worshipping culture which were present in other parts of the world.

Requesting on behalf of the organization named 'Nair Foundation' in which we research the history and antiquity of Snake worship and Nair Clan.

Yours faithfully Prasad Nair. Pprasadnair (talk) 10:25, 14 August 2020 (UTC) — Preceding unsigned comment added by Pprasadnair (talkcontribs) 06:18, 14 August 2020 (UTC)Reply
