Questionable fact about canarsie line

For most of its length, the Canarsie-bound side is located in Brooklyn, while the Manhattan-bound side is in Queens.

Double check this. The whole station seems like it is in Brooklyn.

Minor Change to Title

The precedent set so far for station names is that ranges have no space between the number or word and the en dash (such as Clinton–Washington Avenues or 182–183 Streets) while intersections and secondary or tertiary names have spaces surrounding the en dash (such as Broadway – Lafayette Street). A mixed case would be 47–50 Streets – Rockefeller Center. Myrtle Avenue (which the M train runs along) intersects with Wyckoff Avenue (which the L train runs along) and thus this article should be titled Myrtle – Wyckoff Avenues (New York City Subway) instead of Myrtle–Wyckoff Avenues (New York City Subway). Spaces

I have reverted a rename of this article, and I want to explain it. There are two types of titles:

1. Consisting of just two parts:
   • Vernon Boulevard – Jackson Avenue (IRT Flushing Line)
   • 66th Street – Lincoln Center (IRT Broadway – Seventh Avenue Line)
   • Lexington Avenue – 63rd Street (New York City Subway)
2. Consisting of two parts that share a word in plural form:
   • Hoyt–Schermerhorn Streets (New York City Subway)
   • Smith–Ninth Streets (IND Culver Line)
   • Clinton–Washington Avenues (IND Fulton Street Line)

The first type has spaces around the dash, the second type doesn't have. This article belongs to the second type. Vcohen (talk) 08:39, 17 May 2014 (UTC)

Epicgenius, please, don't start with it. We have about 120 articles with dash and spaces, more than a quarter of them having "IRT Broadway – Seventh Avenue Line" in their titles. If you really want to rename all of them, let's first duscuss other issues, such as 96th Street vs. 96 Street, disambiguations and so on. Vcohen (talk) 09:21, 18 May 2014 (UTC)

I know. I heard about this huge argument at WP:AN/I about this issue that prompted long-term user User:Acps110 to retire. But technically, the MOS name should redirect to the article (e.g., Vernon Boulevard–Jackson Avenue (IRT Flushing Line) → Vernon Boulevard – Jackson Avenue (IRT Flushing Line)). My primary concern is consistency and conformity to the wider standards. I'm not familiar with all the standards, but at the very least, inconsistencies should be cleaned up. I've based my rename action on the titles of several other articles and made an educated guess as to why the spaces were in some but not others. LCS (talk) 08:50, 19 May 2014 (UTC)

I see 10 titles with a shared plural, all consistently having no spaces:

• 174th–175th Streets (IND Concourse Line)
• 182nd–183rd Streets (IND Concourse Line)
• Bedford–Nostrand Avenues (IND Crosstown Line)
• Clinton–Washington Avenues (IND Crosstown Line)
• Clinton–Washington Avenues (IND Fulton Street Line)
• Hoyt–Schermerhorn Streets (New York City Subway)
• Kingston–Throop Avenues (IND Fulton Street Line)
• Myrtle–Willoughby Avenues (IND Crosstown Line)
• Myrtle–Wyckoff Avenues (New York City Subway)
• Smith–Ninth Streets (IND Culver Line)

The already mentioned mixed 47th–50th Streets – Rockefeller Center (IND Sixth Avenue Line) title also consistently has spaces in the part without a shared plural and doesn't have in the part with it. Vcohen (talk) 10:02, 19 May 2014 (UTC)
