editYou'd think that a bunch of sailors out to sea for a long time would be able to tell (at least remember) the differences between a male and a female. Oh, well. Badbilltucker 15:45, 30 October 2006 (UTC)
Poor Mrs Chippy
editthe poor cat, he should have got the polar medal. real shame he had to be shot, but i doubt he would have survived. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 86.13.90.75 (talk) 07:02, 28 February 2008 (UTC)
Mrs. Chippy's statue in Wellington's Cemetery
editDedicated to the New Zealand friends. It would be really nice if someone went to photograph the statue of Mrs.Chippy on Harry McNish tomb in Wellington and load it on the Wikimedia Commons. Thanks. With sympathy, from Genoa (Italy)--Siperzen (talk) 21:40, 9 June 2009 (UTC)

Mrs. Chippy → Mrs Chippy – Per MOS:ENGVAR. While cats don't have citizenships, there are strong ties to the UK, as the cat's owner was British, and the expedition for which Mrs Chippy was ship's cat was a British one (British ship, and primarily British expedition funding). PS: Entry at Ship's cat#Mrs. Chippy should be corrected after the move. — SMcCandlish ☏ ¢ 😼 07:24, 8 July 2018 (UTC)
- Support Its the logical move. scope_creep (talk) 11:42, 8 July 2018 (UTC)
- Support, good find. Per nom (British style). The image of the postage stamp on the page contains the non-period form. Randy Kryn (talk) 13:41, 8 July 2018 (UTC)
- Support Definitely "engvar". I also support removal of the full stop form from the article text (except where it has been used in referenced material and is being quoted correctly. Sprite96 (talk) 07:22, 9 July 2018 (UTC)
- Yes, that'll be an implicit result of the move. — SMcCandlish ☏ ¢ 😼 09:05, 9 July 2018 (UTC)

Shouldn't the main heading be Mrs Chippy (cat) as in Mike (cat)? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 193.63.81.59 (talk) 10:33, 9 March 2022 (UTC)
- Probably not. Mike the cat needs to be disambiguated, as there are other Mikes - a chimpanzee and a headless chicken. In Mrs Chippy's case, he's the only one of that name. 31.125.139.185 (talk) 18:49, 20 March 2022 (UTC)
