I'm aware of the duplication with the "Captain Moroni" article. My intention was to redirect that article to this one, but it isn't ready for that yet, IMO. I'd like to add more detail to this article before merging them.--andersonpd 15:45, 1 December 2005 (UTC)Reply

I think a better option would be to merge the relevant section with the Captain Moroni article and keep the rest of this one as a seperate Moroni article. There should be two seperate articles for the two seperate people.--Cassmus 08:47, 1 May 2006 (UTC)Reply

Am separating

edit

Hi y'all,

I'm not a Mormon, so please forgive me if I'm stepping on anyone's toes. The Moroni (prophet) article looks pretty well developed to me. The Captain Moroni one is a bit stubbish, it's true, but perhaps the addition of info from here will bulk it up a bit. In any event, these two are very clearly separate indiviuals, and more importantly, both are already listed on the disambiguation page for Moroni. Just from an editing standpoint, I'm gonna separate these out. Please feel free to repair anything I don't get quite right. Thank you for your patience, --Ling.Nut 18:23, 17 September 2006 (UTC)Reply

PS Yes, this is now a link to a dab page --- but it seems logical.--Ling.Nut 19:55, 17 September 2006 (UTC)Reply

Illustration

I added a public domain illustration of Moroni raising the standard of liberty. Prsaucer1958 (talk) 19:13, 12 June 2010 (UTC)Reply

The image was removed because it was misidentified. Prsaucer1958 (talk) 15:53, 15 July 2010 (UTC)Reply

Reference 1

edit

This reference (July 1838) is not associated with anything in the article. Varlaam (talk) 00:32, 30 July 2011 (UTC)Reply

Excellent. In cases such as this, it is handy to use the   Done template.

Article Title

edit

Why isn't this article simply titled Moroni (prophet)? Are there other prophets named Moroni? -Jason A. Quest (talk) 02:47, 10 May 2012 (UTC)Reply

I wonder that too. I see that some dope moved it back, and I (when signed in, I mean) can't move it BACK back, as if there's some kind of "problem" with just flat-out saying that he's a PROPHET without any qualifier, just as Bible prophets are listed. Why?

According to the BoM and Mormon folklore

edit

I don't think it is appropriate to say "In Mormon folklore, " largely because if you look at the article "Mormon folklore" it is a very specific subset of Mormon culture, and does not include basic Mormon theology or scriptural teachings. "According to the Book of Mormon, ..." was wording similar to biblical articles, such as Enos (biblical figure), Enoch (son of Cain) or most other figures from Genesis. Saying "According to the BoM,..." is also verifiable and stays strictly NPOV, giving the context for the rest of the article. The contents of the BoM are generally outside Mormon folklore - with some overlap such as the Three Nephites, who enter into Mormon folklore when we include the body of cultural stories of their supposed appearances to church members or other non-canon appearances.

In terms of the "disputed" category, again I don't see this on all the biblical figures of similar questionable historicity - go ahead and try putting that category on those articles and see if it sticks. --FyzixFighter (talk) 13:12, 2 July 2020 (UTC)Reply
