East to Central Asia?

edit

Under the Central Asia portal, Mongolia is listed, but on the this page it is part of East Asia (as denoted by the link). Is there reasoning for it? I couldn't find the original discussion about this, but it just seems odd. The CIA World Factbook and Britannica refer to it as a Central Asian country too, and since Google pulls up the Wikipedia article automatically, I am worried about general confusion. Please advise! Official name/conventional long form

edit

I cannot find a source that refers to "Mongol State" or "State of Mongolia" as the official name/conventional long form. There isn't even agreement here on the translation of Mongol Uls. The etymology section simply says: Since the adoption of the new Constitution of Mongolia on 13 February 1992, the official name of the state is "Mongolia" (Mongol Uls). CIA World Factbook for example says there is no conventional long form.[1] Other similar sources say the same thing, except for those published before 1992, which state that this is Mongolian People's Republic. I have also added a source for this in the etymology section. Mellk (talk) 05:50, 5 January 2025 (UTC)Reply
