I've removed the following from the overview: "...many historical systems presume that one figure represents (from smallest to largest) a squad, platoon, company (UK: "squadron", Artillery: "battery"), battalion (UK: "regiment"), brigade (US: "regiment") or a division." It's somewhat misleading, as it implies British infantry companies would be called squadrons, which they're generally not. Squadrons are units of signallers, engineers, the SAS etc. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 203.206.199.16 (talk) 11:15, 24 June 2011 (UTC)Reply

Some issues

edit

Scales

edit

Scales section seems incomplete. No mention of 1:287 scale, e.g. for micro armour (anyone remember Tractics? Tacforce?). No mention of the terms "micro" (1:100) or "micro-condensed" (1:400).

added more popular 2 and 3mm scales

I think you can roll 1:285/1:287 and 1:300 (ie: 6mm) into the same bracket. You're essentially talking about the same type of game, and people often mix the two in the same game. 2p0rk (talk) 08:08, 13 April 2016 (UTC)Reply

Air wargames section

edit

There's a section for air minis - really? I've never seen a game in which air is more than secondary. This section is no help at all. There is no citation and no example. In fact, miniatures are never mentioned in the section. Is someone confused? Hopeful?

You've never seen Wings of War/ Wings of Glory played? X-wing is essentially the same game. They're a minority, but they are played. 2p0rk (talk) 08:09, 13 April 2016 (UTC)Reply

No Armor type section

edit

There's no section for Armor or modern battlefield miniature wargames? (or whatever WWII and modern vehicle-based tactical combat should be called.) Anyone remember Tractics? Tacforce? etc etc.. ? This seems to be a major oversight.

So? Most periods aren't mentioned specifically, you won't find any mention of Naps in the article either. It's a general overview of the hobby, individual rule sets are listed in List_of_miniature_wargames and broken down by period. 2p0rk (talk) 08:14, 13 April 2016 (UTC)Reply

No Sci-fi section

edit

Star Fleet Battles, Ogre/GEV, etc. etc...

Could we add Bruce Rea Taylor of TTG? I grew up on his rules. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 86.154.7.190 (talk) 15:28, 28 July 2012 (UTC)Reply

Should we have a category for out of print minitarure wargames?

edit

Please see the discussion at Talk:Collectible_card_game#Should_we_have_a_category_for_out_of_print_CCGs? which is pretty relevant for this type of game as well, I think. --Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus| reply here 02:04, 8 July 2020 (UTC)Reply
