Deleting

edit

If this article is not suppose to be a article you may delete it. If the a single charts and doesn't need a article you can delete. Other than that I think we should keep it. --BatterWow (talk) 09:11, 20 May 2008 (UTC)Reply

Miles Away new single??

edit

I sincerely hope that Warner Music has made a wise decision in choosing "Miles Away" as the third single. "Give It 2 Me" flopped like anything, so their choice is kinda not ok for me. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Legolas2186 (talkcontribs) 03:40, 26 September 2008 (UTC)Reply

Give It 2 Me was a global hit. It just flopped in US. --189.73.255.155 (talk) 17:27, 26 September 2008 (UTC)Reply
I know. I just meant that even for a Madonna single, it was not a hit of that degree in rest of the world also. Well, U.S., we all know how the radio is still continuing to ignore Madonna since American Life. Even 4 Minutes, the Global hit, peaked a mere 11 on the Hot 100 Airplay. Don't know why these people try to ignore her, when her fans in U.S. are crazy for her songs and she is a far superior star than any of todays Madge-look-alikes. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Legolas2186 (talkcontribs) 08:49, 29 September 2008 (UTC)Reply

Music video

edit

I can see that a number of times music video info are put in the article but without any reference. Should we keep those or delete them? Even the fansites are without any news on the music video (at present most of the fansites are dedicted to news about the Sticky & Sweet Tour hence we can delete these mis infos. --"Legolas" (talk) 04:34, 5 November 2008 (UTC)Reply

The section on the music video at the moment should be deleted straight away, there are no references and the entire section is OR (original research). See WP:NOR. If the fansites carry no information on a music video for Miles Away, then there IS no information for a music video for Miles Away - we can't just assume and speculate and pass it off as fact. Paul75 (talk) 11:47, 4 December 2008 (UTC)Reply
Added back the Music Video section since it has been officially released on the Celebration DVD, doesn't get any more official than that Fighter02 (talk) 23:58, 14 February 2010 (UTC)Reply

U.S.

edit

Has this song been released in the united states yet? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 67.171.245.107 (talk) 03:45, 18 November 2008 (UTC)Reply

Yes, but so far it has failed to chart on any Billboard chart. CatMan (talk) 00:00, 3 December 2008 (UTC)Reply

On November 30, 2008, the song entered the UK Singles Chart at #39, it is the lowest charting Madonna single since the origional release of "Borderline" in 1984. (Although this excludes "Hey You" with charted at #187 in 2007)

Is this necessary so early in the song's run? CatMan (talk) 00:03, 3 December 2008 (UTC)Reply

Actually no, it should be removed as any such prediction on the first week of the songs charting is non-reliable as the song may chart higher than that as was the case with Give It 2 Me. "Legolas" (talk) 04:11, 5 December 2008 (UTC)Reply

chart performance

edit

at first i was sceptical about this songs performance, but now, (Phew!) it has started charting and has appeared on the United World Chart. That means teh song is gaining popularity :) "Legolas" (talk) 12:59, 5 December 2008 (UTC)Reply

Final single?

edit

" "Miles Away" is the final single by American singer Madonna from her eleventh studio album," - this is the first line. Since it does not cite any refferences (and I hope it is false), I think it should be removed. 12345abcxyz20082009 (talk) 15:08, 7 January 2009 (UTC)Reply

I was the one that made that change. I made this change because her "greatest hits" album is planned for release in march. You can change that line back to "third single" if you like, but that what i've heard. --BrenMadge (talk) 02:35, 8 January 2009 (UTC)Reply
Yes, well that doesn't mean she can't release another single in February, or even January. But rumours are everywhere. That doesn't mean they are true. Some rumours said "Beat gors on" would be the third single - clearly wrong. I hope this isn't the final single though. 12345abcxyz20082009 (talk) 14:42, 8 January 2009 (UTC)Reply
Have you found any reference to the said statement? Its only speculation at this moment. I think at present we can keep it as "third single". If any news comes out about her "greatest hits" album, we can change it back it to "final single". "Legolas" (talk) 06:44, 9 January 2009 (UTC)Reply

What's Next?

edit

I keep hearing that the Sticky and sweet Tour will be released in March and also a GHV3. Do any of you know if this is true? I have also heard "Beat goes On" will get a release in February with a lot of mixes. Please let me know if anyone has any information. thanks Jdcrackers (talk) 22:03, 9 January 2009 (UTC)Reply

Airplay

edit

I don't think Miles Away is the final single off Hard Candy. Beat goes on has been getting some airplay.

and where that might be? --BrenMadge (talk) 11:19, 19 January 2009 (UTC)Reply
Practically, nowhere. That statement above is simply bluffing and nothing else. "Legolas" (talk) 11:25, 19 January 2009 (UTC)Reply
Not necessarily bluffing, but it has received minimal commercial airplay. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 76.113.127.95 (talk) 04:29, 7 February 2009 (UTC)Reply

Final single....c'mon!

edit

I see somebody put in the beginning (again) that this is the final single, but (again) with no referrence to support it! This time I really doubt she won't release anymore singles, because madonna.com announced Madonna will resume her Sticky&Sweet Tour this summer. S&S Tour is set to promote Hard Candy, so as long as it isn't over, neither are the Hard Candy sessions. That means she can very well release more singles. Until summer, she could release two! And it is highly unprobable she'd release a Greatest Hits anytime soon (the only thing that could stop further singles), at least not before the end of the tour. Because she needs to promote this next GH with a tour, and it certainly can not be this one, as the setlist is already set. So, I'm thinking... not the final single (hopefully). --12345abcxyz20082009 (talk) 14:13, 28 January 2009 (UTC)Reply

Very true, nothing proves this fact of it being the final single. Beat goes on could even be used as promotion for her tour or Greatest hits album. Also, if you notice the time between each single from her past releases with Warner Bros. Records, it somewhere between 4 to 5 months until the next single is actually released. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 76.113.127.95 (talk) 04:37, 7 February 2009 (UTC)Reply
Some Madonna fan sites are actually saying that Beat Goes On maybe the 4th single to promote the upcoming European Leg in summer. I hope this is true!Jdcrackers (talk) 00:53, 5 March 2009 (UTC)Reply
"Hard Candy" wont be promoted anymore with singles. "Miles Away" is the final single. It was stated by Madonna manager. It only available to view by Icon members. http://www.madonna.com/news/news.php?uid=1147. He was asked 10 questions and one of them were:

"3) Now that Madonna has decided to extend her "Sticky and Sweet" tour, is there any chance for her to release a 4th single off her 'Hard Candy' album? I don't see that happening."

--1234Sticky (talk) 11:06, 23 March 2009 (UTC)Reply

Very true. Read that interview myself. But it did confirm about the Greatest hits album coming out this September. --Legolas (talktome) 11:16, 23 March 2009 (UTC)Reply
So, do we include this information in the article? Do we also state about the greatest hits being released in the fall? or isn't this source reliable enough because only Icon Members can see it? --1234Sticky (talk) 11:30, 23 March 2009 (UTC)Reply
Fails WP:RS. The inclusion about the Greates Hits is already done in the "Hard Candy" article with a proper source. So no need of including it in any other article. --Legolas (talktome) 11:44, 23 March 2009 (UTC)Reply

Comments

The music for "Miles Away" was the first to be among all the other songs of Hard Candy, and Madonna began singing and writing for the song after listening to it.[2] - The sentence doesn't make sense. — R2 10:52, 29 April 2009 (UTC)Reply

Done changed the sentence to The music for "Miles Away" was the first song of Hard Candy to be composed. After hearing it, Madonna began singing and writing the lyrics for the song. --Legolas (talk2me) 11:10, 29 April 2009 (UTC)Reply

Everything else is fine. Good luck. — R2 11:46, 29 April 2009 (UTC)Reply

Will try to improve them. Maybe tomorrow. --Legolas (talk2me) 12:08, 29 April 2009 (UTC)Reply
Done Couldnot wait for tomorrow. Replaced with better links from ARIA and "The telegraph". I don't know why that link isn't working for you. --Legolas (talk2me) 12:18, 29 April 2009 (UTC)Reply

Miles Away is not similar to Justin Timberlake's 'What goes around', it's her song 'Devil Wouldn't Recognize You' as stated in the Hard Candy section on Wikipedia. http://en.wiki.x.io/wiki/Hard_Candy_%28Madonna_album%29 —Preceding unsigned comment added by 90.202.31.216 (talk) 20:06, 8 August 2010 (UTC)Reply

LEAD

edit

From WP:LEAD - The lead must conform to verifiability and other policies. The verifiability policy advises that material that is challenged or likely to be challenged, and quotations, should be cited.Paul75 (talk) 12:38, 18 July 2009 (UTC)Reply

And who said that its not cited? Did you read WP:LEAD which also states that material which is sourced in the body doesnot need to be cited? --Legolas (talk2me) 15:04, 19 July 2009 (UTC)Reply
