Awards

edit

Hello! I’m wanting to augment this article with more precise information relating to Michael and his career. To keep in line with the rules regarding COI I’d like to mention that I used to work for Michael full time but am now only involved occasionally as a consultant on specific projects. For this reason I will not be editing the Article directly but instead would like to engage with the community to improve the content of the article and give credit where it is due.

I thought I’d start off with something straightforward by detailing and updating information relating to the awards section. I’ve listed out some more recent awards and provided links to be used for referencing.

Good Design Award, Winner, Series X, 2022

German Design Award, Winner, Templates Watch, 2019

Design Anthology, Finalists, Templates Watch, 2019

Red Dot Design Award, Winner, LessThanFive Chair, 2017

Good Design Award, Gold Winner, Clipsal Iconic, 2017

iF Design Award, Gold Award, Master Series Michael Young Watch, 2017

Here I provide a reference link to the 2012 award:

Hello, can you also list books, exhibitions, and museums that hold the designer's work? (Here, on the Talk page, please.) Cheers Cl3phact0 (talk) 06:49, 9 December 2022 (UTC)Reply
PS: More images of his work would also be an improvement to the article. (These need to be uploaded to Wikimedia Commons.)
Hello Cl3phact0 here are a few more details on museums that hold some of Michael's work. I'll come back to you with a clear list of exhibitions and books soon.
SFMOMA - San Francisco, USA - Oxygen Chair
CID Grand Hornu - Boussu, Belgium - Clover Lamp by Lasvit, Chair 4a by EOQ , Bramah lamp by EOQ
M+ - Hong Kong - Newspaper Clock , Chair 4A by EOQ, Joseph lamp by EOQ, Link Table by EOQ, Magazine Sofa , Sticklight
V&A - London, United Kingdom - Magazine Sofa
Hope this helps.
PS: I've been uploading a few more images bit by bit, I think I've figured out the logic behind it all.

Thank you, LexLevels. I'll review this information and add as appropriate. Thank you also for letting me know about the images. I'll have a look at these too. Cheers, Cl3phact0 (talk) 16:55, 9 May 2023 (UTC)Reply

Images of works?

edit

Fitindia, this article needs more photographs of the designer's works and probably a portrait of the designer too. The subject is visual arts related so the lack of supporting imagery seems a loss. (Until fairly recently, there were a few additional images, but most of these have now been removed for some reason.) Cheers, Cl3phact0 (talk) 08:19, 12 January 2023 (UTC)Reply

@Cl3phact0 These images were deleted by me as they lacked permission from the author/copyright holder. - FitIndia Talk (Admin/CheckUser on Commons) 15:52, 12 January 2023 (UTC)Reply
There is an editor who has access to images (knows and worked for the subject, properly declared COI in "Awards" above, etc.). I've suggested that they upload images. They are not too active and joined WP fairly recently, so they may need an assist. If you are knowledgeable about the copyright aspects of image use on Commons, and if your are inclined to share any wisdom, it might be a help. Image request Moke (revival)

edit

@LexLevels: Following up on discussion above and on your Talk page, are you able to source this image from the article in a publication called StirWorld (and also include technical data in the metadata of the upload)? This would be a useful addition to the article about the Moke International revival of the Mini Moke that was designed by Michael Young Studio. (Photographs of the finished MOKE itself would be nice to have on Wikipedia as well, if you can source any of these.) Cheers, Cl3phact0 (talk) 06:06, 9 April 2023 (UTC)Reply

@LexLevels: Thank you for uploading the Moke file. This is now being used in the Moke (revival) article. If there are other images that the designer is willing to upload, that would be welcome too. Mr.choppers (who has a better eye for these things than I do) spotted some retouches to the Moke "Military Collection" image that are not very well done, so if we could improve the image quality, it would be welcome. Also, I had re-instated the main image of the designer in the infobox of the Michael Young (industrial designer) article, but it has been deleted (again). Can you try to come to an agreement with the Commons editor who has twice deleted the photo? Cheers, Cl3phact0 (talk) 04:59, 13 May 2023 (UTC)Reply
Infobox "Hex" photo matter resolved by VRT ticket #2023041110008671. Thank you for taking the time to resolve the issue. -- Cl3phact0 (talk) 15:11, 17 May 2023 (UTC)Reply
