editMeegs, I took your advice and opened an account. Since Crow was already taken I am now BlackCrow. You are right about the wikipedia.com policy of neutrality and yes, we should not promote kiske. But the fact is that there is not too much information available about Kiske. I know that he is not considered by more than a few to be one of the finest vocalists of all time, but that is because he is very unknown...but take it from me, I am a classically trained singer that practices rock, and the quality of Kiske's voice is far superior to that of Mercury, Morrison and the popular rock vocalists. I know that can be considered as my own point of view, but really...without a doubt, listen to Freddy Mercury and Kiske, and you'll see the immediate difference, Kiske has a lot more of vibrato, a bigger range, and more power. I know he has struggle with sales deeply, but that doesn't mean that the quality of his voice is worse than that of Mercury, popularity means nothing. I read the article on Freddy Mercury, it is very well written and I think we could write something like that. The part where they say that Mercury is was ranked number 10 by the BBC is very decieving. Mercury was rated 10, but in a poll, and Lennon was ranked 6, and Lenon's voice is not all better than that of Freddy Mercury and should't be ranked at all...it was all due to popularity. But enough of that, a soon as I can I'll start researching some more and expand the article a bit more.
BlackCrow
- I would suggest that the inclusion of Freddy Mercury's rank on the BBC list serves the purpose of representing the recognition that he's received, not the purpose of promoting that he actually was a great singer. The articles on Plácido Domingo and Luciano Pavarotti don't say anything qualitative about their voices either. There is a lot that this article is conspicuously missing: his early life, his singing training (if any - you referenced it earlier, but did not cite a source), and his recent focus on religion (in lyrics, his essays, and his book), just to name a few. Kiske has done tons of magazine interviews over the years, in German and English, so there's no shortage of sources. -Meegs 21:42, 6 December 2005 (UTC)
Kiske sings pop... he says
editIt could be mentioned that. Even when he sang in Avantasia he said that he only sings pop songs. Could be in a trivia section

Singing Style
editOkay, I've been promoting a Singing Style section as a part of articles which deal with Heavy Metal frontmen and for some reason people don't like these. Why? With every guitarist, drummer, bass player, keyboardist etc. there is usually a mention of their influences and style. A singer is no different. His instrument is his voice. If someone feels this info doesn't warrant a section of its own, fine, but don't remove the info but instead move it to a place where it is more at home. If I'm looking for info on singers, naturally I wanna know what their style of performance is. -TheHande 20:36, 12 October 2007 (UTC)
