Situation in Germany
editIt should be mentioned that in Germany the season is abridged. Usually the "rare" and modern operas are simply left out. I don't know how the situation in other countries is (in Switzerland, at least some of the operas that have not been shown in Germany were shown, IIRC). --AndreasPraefcke (talk) 13:54, 13 August 2012 (UTC)
- Regarding the comments above about operas seen in Germany, etc., I assume that this is an exhibitor's decision to include only popular titles...??Viva-Verdi (talk) 19:58, 9 October 2013 (UTC)
Time to revise this article??
editWe have a reached a point where this has simply become a listing of opera titles which, if continued, will go on to the year 2100.....
Given WP Opera's policy of not listing every performance of operas in the standard rep, I would propose that, at the very least, we cut these year-by-year listings down to only the non-standard titles in a continuous paragraph format. (But note the full list for the first season and mention the total number offered each season). Casts, etc. are always available via the Met's database and a link needs to be provided.
Thoughts? Viva-Verdi (talk) 15:47, 8 October 2013 (UTC)
- While the length of the article doesn't seem problematic to me for some time to come, I agree that a mere list of works is not terribly encyclopedic, although compared to the list here, the French and Russian articles go even further. In other words, I don't think it matters much. – I don't think anything special about the situation in Germany needs to be mentioned here; if so desired, they can write their own article. -- Michael Bednarek (talk) 06:38, 9 October 2013 (UTC)
- Was just commenting on another editor's comments above. Now moved.
- Regardless of whether French et al articles have more, I'm only concerned re: Eng. wiki. Let's see what other comments, if any, we get. Viva-Verdi (talk) 19:58, 9 October 2013 (UTC)
2014-2015 Season
editDeath of Klinghoffer has been removed from the programme due to its antisemitic potentiality. Accordingly I have removed it from the listing in the article and revised "12 operas in 10 broadcasts" to "11 operas in 9 broadcasts".Kepipesiom (talk) 19:01, 8 August 2014 (UTC)
