editHere's a good one, a 1987 Sun Sentinel discussing a then application for an extension grant for basically the sam eomni and brickell extensions that finally took place in 1994. http://articles.sun-sentinel.com/1987-11-04/news/8702030646_1_transit-system-metrorail-downtown
Notice the completely negative comments on the May 2011 article of the proposal for an impact study on a port extension. Not one bit of support there.
Who ever came up with 22 stations?
editFirst there's only 21 total, and one is closed. So there's really only 20. Do government center and riverwalk count as two because they have split platforms (ie riverwalk north and riverwalk south)? If so, that's gimmicky. Daniel Christensen (talk) 21:54, 30 October 2011 (UTC)
- You're correct, good eye! There are 21 Metromover stations, but Bicentennial Park Station is closed, so it's 20 operating stations. I'll edit the article. For reference see: Metromover--Comayagua99 (talk) 23:57, 30 October 2011 (UTC)
- Also, it's hard to call it "rapid transit" when its overall average is 10 mph, and max speed is in the 20s. It's mass transit. Daniel Christensen (talk) 14:10, 15 November 2011 (UTC)

editWhen did it actually open?
editWhile the article gives the specific date in 1986 for the opening, several other sources suggest it opened later. These include indirect hints such as a lack of mention of construction in early 80s studies of transit expansions. It has been presumed by many, especially give the design of Government Center, that the State I of these two systems were "built together". Here is a source stating operations on the Metrmover Inner Loop began in 1989: [1]

Not monorail
editMe, my classmates, and my professor had a debate one this topic today. This system is not monorail. It's an electric bus system, according to http://iml.jou.ufl.edu/projects/Fall08/Meltzer/metromover.html It wasn't considered monorail, according to TCRP 165: Transit Capacity and Quality of Service Manual. Ridership chart
editGraphic chart detailing monthly weekday ridership averages by Calendar Year where dubious avg ridership by year chart uses "fiscal year" without disclosure, where the FY has 75% more time in the next year than the starting year! This only serves to make the 2012 increase, the year of the Orange Line opening on Metrorail, look more stark. One more thing is that the calculations need to take into account significant figures where the monthly estimates in the tech reports are all rounded to the nearest 100. Some old figures are anecdotes such as from old news articles, since the online reports only go back to 1999. Here the annuals are rounded to the nearest 500.

Nonsense speculation

- The implication is that the Brickell Loop could run tandem trains while it never seems to have done so despite the Brickell Loop being the busiest. Could be related to steep hill and curve on the transition from Outer Loop to Brickell Loop with full trains. B137 (talk) 05:32, 24 April 2020 (UTC)
