Spelling

Could you check the spelling of John Con(n)olly please? It's spelt with one 'n' at the WA Parliament site. [1] --Digestible (talk) 20:39, 25 March 2009 (UTC)

Yeah I had the same issue, and did my research to find out they had made an error (as had at least one publication). Some of these guys were born overseas and there was genuine confusion as to what their birth cert actually read (this confusion even extended to one of our former premiers!) Yep, Bolton & Mozley and the Votes and Proceedings say two "n"'s, while Black and the Parliamentary website say one "n". I checked Westmeath in Ireland (not this one guy but just in general) and they have both spellings although more predominantly two. As for the premier, it was the ordering of Albert Hawke's middle names. Orderinchaos 01:03, 26 March 2009 (UTC)

Yeah normally I don't go to that extent but the fact two of my sources conflicted on the name was enough cause to look into it properly. There's Ernest Hoar(e) as well, who for some reason some records call one and some call the other - but the clincher was that he was buried at Fremantle cemetery and they list him as "Hoar" on the MCB website, and I found a newspaper advertisement in one of the elections he ran in where he had signed his name "E K Hoar". (Con(n)olly was buried in South Africa and their cemetery doesn't have a search. :( ) Almost all other ones are very straightforward. Orderinchaos 04:28, 26 March 2009 (UTC)
