Talk:Mathieu group M24

The first sentence is not grammatically correct:

"In mathematics, the Mathieu group M24, introduced by Mathieu (1861, 1873), is a 5-fold transitive permutation groups on 24 objects"

I would fix it, but I'm not quite sure what the author intended to say here Cgwaldman (talk) 17:26, 19 July 2012 (UTC)

Some redundancy

Some sections on the construction of Mathieu groups are more or less duplicated here and in the main page on Mathieu groups. The main page seems like the logical pace for the original permutation construction and this article could make an allusion and link. Same for Steiner systems. On the other hand this article seems like the best place for alluding to the Golay code. I do not know about dessins d'enfants. Scott Tillinghast, Houston TX (talk) 00:49, 8 August 2014 (UTC)

I deleted the section about dessins d'enfants because it seems more related to Mathieu groups in general and it is duplicated in the article on Mathieu groups.

I am thinking about moving the section on 'M24 from PSL(3,4)' into the section about the triad subgroups. There is interesting material that could be added to several of the sections on maximal groups. Scott Tillinghast, Houston TX (talk) 04:47, 9 August 2014 (UTC)'

The source of the simple subgroups aren’t cited

I just realised that the alleged “simple subgroups of 13 isomorphism types” has absolutely no indication of how they obtained that information. I want to know how this ever got under the radar. Shadi1089 (talk) 20:35, 14 August 2021 (UTC)

I reviewed it a second time, and there are still more claims that lack proper sources. Most of them related to proper subgroups of M₂₄. I’ve marked them for verification, but it seems as if nobody has recognised the issues with this article. Shadi1089 (talk) 19:35, 30 August 2021 (UTC)
