Dear
editDear All, in creating the article I have used Commonwealth English. I would respectfully request the spelling in the Australian portions remain as Commonwealth usage.adamm 02:41, 19 March 2006 (UTC)
I note that "some" of the Australio-centric stuff has been removed, and replaced with Americo-centric stuff. Well done - not one Australian University is represented in the "hundreds of providers world wide" - not one. Adamm 02:14, 15 April 2006 (UTC)
This degree is offered at hundreds of universities across the globe. Ad links to some obscure Australian universites are completely inappropriate. Health22 02:22, 15 April 2006 (UTC)
Hundreds? Obscure? Curtin and Latrobe are two significant figures in Australian history and are honoured by the establishment of universities in their names. Inappropriate? Perhaps, but there again, I would have thought that arrogance has no place in the Wikipedia. I suppose it shows how mistaken one might be. Adamm 02:44, 15 April 2006 (UTC)
- Obscure? Those two fine men? Yes :P. I go to curtin uni I have barely any idea about who John Curtin was, and no idea at all who La Trobe was. Maybe in Australia these two people are famous and their respective universities are noteworthy, but this is an international encyclopedia, and thus I wouldn't call Curtin a noteable university. On La Trobe, it is one of the more famous universities in Australia, have you looked at similar pages to this one to see what level of fame is required? Dyn.iinet.net.au 11:59, 15 April 2006 (UTC)
- Le me also add that noone disputed the notability of Curtin and Latrobe, but a university does not become notable automatically by naming itself after a notable person. As said above, the Curtin and Latrobe unis may be fine universities in an Australian context, but chosing them out of several hundred universities worldwide including much more notable universities is POV. I typically prefer not to become involved with this sort of thing, but I'd just like to say that those external links do not appear to be spam in any way. The first link is only relevant to the US and Canada, and as such, the addition of external links to Australian universities seems appropriate to me. Also, if one were interested in acquiring one of these degrees, these external links would be helpful, and if one weren't, but merely wanted to see what credits are usually required, they would still be helpful. All in all, it doesn't strike me as spam. --Keitei (talk) 12:05, 15 April 2006 (UTC)
Wikipedia:What Wikipedia is not. If we should have ad links to providers, we should have a list of several hundred universities here. My mum studied for this degree at the University of Oslo, should I also add http://www.med.uio.no/heled/EMA/index.html to the list? It's extremely Australo-centric to pick out some random Australian universities which are not particularly notable in a global context. It's better to let other make internet directories.
In the first place the entire article was written from an Australo-centric point of view, which I have now modified. Perhaps Adamm should create a separate article Master of Health Administration in Australia if it's so important to have lots of Australo-centric stuff. This article ought to have a global viewpoint. Health22 14:45, 15 April 2006 (UTC)
To the point of Keitei: If the purpose with the links was to show only an example of what is required etc., it'd be better to chose some widely recognized universities, like for instance Harvard. Health22 14:53, 15 April 2006 (UTC)
La Trobe is generally considered to be ranked amongst the top ten universities in Australia and was recently ranked in the top 100 universities in the world (Times Higher Education Supplement) La Trobe offers undergraduate and postgraduate courses across five major faculties, covering all the main learning areas. La Trobe is considered to be particularly strong in the area of arts and humanities, this was reflected in the THES, where it was ranked amongst the top 25 institutions in the world in this category and third best in Australia. It also has a strong international reputation in biomedicine and science.Adamm 08:18, 6 May 2006 (UTC)
Link to mastersinhealthcare.com
editI think the external link to mastersinhealthcare.com is appropriate for this article. This is a one page site thats lists many top accredited colleges that offer a Masters in Health Administration. This site has been online since 2001. It includes reviews of each individual college and is updated on a weekly if not daily basis. Many people have found this site useful. The site has been listed in the Yahoo Directory since 2001. This site is ranked number 1 in google for the term "Master of Health Administration" ( http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&q=Master+of+Health+Administration&btnG=Google+Search ) which just so happens to be the title of this article. If this link does not constitute a legitimate external link for this article then I do not know what does.
- I have clarified the discription of this external link added by a representative of "mastersinhealthcare.com". In my view it is a useful link for persons interested in studying at an American university: notwithstanding that Google rankings may be influenced by advertising revenue and is therefore indication of quality may not be inferred. The above entry was added with an understandable sense of frustration of an example of the heavy handed manner in which some contributions to this article have been received and at times deleted. Nevertheless, there are many other courses available elsewhere in the world, including "obscure" universities not only in Australia but even, peradventure, Oslo. ;) Adamm 02:57, 15 July 2006 (UTC)
