Marty's middle name?
editWhy was his middle name "Seamus" removed? - Sikon 05:28, 20 March 2006 (UTC)
- Well, I am going to add it back and source it. — File:Ottawa flag.png nathanrdotcom (T • C • W) 07:33, 20 March 2006 (UTC)
I know alot of things were a foreshadow of what would happen later. Was Seamus being Martys middle name a foreshadow of it being the first name of his relative in the third movie?
Episode 3 of the Telltale game states it. (Finally.) Use: <ref name="telltaleep3">{{cite video game |title=Back to the Future: The Game: Episode 3: Citizen Brown |developer=Telltale Incorporated |date= March 29, 2011}}</ref> --Addict 2006 09:04, 29 March 2011 (UTC)
I didn't find a reference to Marty's middle name in the article. I don't remember it being mentioned in the films. Fan-site "Futurepedia - Back to the Future Wiki" says his middle name was revealed in animated series which are stated by the films creators to be non-cannon. So why should there be middle name mentioned in this article? Gevorg89 (talk) 12:24, 25 August 2013 (UTC)
- I dislike anything that uses the BTTF game as a reference. The movie writers were consulted for some things, but not everything and that's why I believe the BTTF game should not be used to reference anything related to the BTTF movies. I'd remove Marty's middle name. -- Lyverbe (talk) 13:24, 25 August 2013 (UTC)
Red border
editWhat is with the red border of the images? DrWho42 21:06, 12 April 2006 (UTC)
Middle Initial
editI know his middle name is "Seamus" from the animated series, but it should be noted somehow that his driver's license, used in the first film, had the middle initial "J." as in "Martin J. McFly" (probably taken from "Michael J. Fox").--Tim Thomason 01:52, 23 April 2006 (UTC)
- When did they show a close-up of the driver's licence?? The only time I remember it is when Marty was showing Doc, and I don't recall them zooming in to it. --EmiOfBrie 06:19, 23 April 2006 (UTC)
- Marty's middle name was confirmed in the animated series as Seamus. That driver's licence that can be seen on the internet is not real, it is a fan replica. It has Marty's birthday being the same as MJF's (apart from the year obviously) and the licence is dated 10/26/1985, which is the day the movie takes place on. Whoever made it probably didn't know about the "Seamus" name. I doubt they even considered a middle name for Marty until the animated series came along, to be honest.
- Telltale video game states it. --Addict 2006 15:59, 29 March 2011 (UTC)
Not to complicate things more, but in an early rough draft script for movie two, his middle name is given as 'Hopkins', for the Hopkins Hotel where he was concived.
- The license I speak of is the one that is on the special features of the DVD. It is not clearly seen in the movie.--Tim Thomason 01:46, 27 January 2007 (UTC)
Victim of abuse?
editOK, he's been shot at by both Biff-A and Buford, nearly hung (again by Buford) and chased by various Tannens, but somehow Marty being in this category seems a bit out of place. It says to me that Marty is frequently abused by the other characters, when in fact I think these circumstances weren't "abuse". Does anyone see what I'm trying to say, because I don't seem to be able to word it right.....
- Don't take it seriously. Some vandal was going around adding several of the characters to this category, along with assigning other articles to unusual categories. In the "Page history", just click on the contributor's name, then click on "User contributions" to look for patterns of serial vandalism, and revert them. GUllman 22:15, 30 November 2006 (UTC)
Hmmm, the category seems to have reappeared despite being deleted - I shall remove Marty's name from it though.
Date of birth
editThe article once again has Marty's date of birth as June 9, 1968. Only the year (1968) is correct, as for the month and day we do not know. June 9 is Michael J Fox's birthday (and thus a lot of fanfic writers make it Marty's birthday as well), but since the films or series make no mention of when his birthday is, I shall remove the reference to June 9.
- Won't stop fans from adding it back, but yes, only his year is known, as he is 17 in 1985, but we don't know when he turned it during the year. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2602:304:CFD3:2EE0:E42C:7D5E:31CA:82A0 (talk) 08:42, 22 October 2015 (UTC)
Democrat?
editCan anyone explain why Marty is independ as a Fictional United States Democrat?
Pretty ironic considering the similarities between him and Ronald Reagan (white male Irish-American guys living in California). — Preceding unsigned comment added by 86.45.226.161 (talk) 17:16, 20 July 2016 (UTC)
Catholic - Marty's religion
editTo the poster who keeps adding "Fictional Catholics" to Marty's profile - there is no evidence that he is a Catholic, or inded religious in the first place. Just because his great-great-grandparents were Catholics does not mean Marty is - chances are somewhere through the generations the religious side to the McFly family was lost. Or perhaps Sylvia McFly (Marty's grandma) was Protestant, or atheist, and thus George was raised as such, meaning his children may be as well.

Chicken problem
editI think it would be worth mentioning that Marty had no apparent "chicken problem," in BTTF I. 74.232.104.108 (talk) 00:40, 3 March 2010 (UTC)
Sr.
editHis son is Jr., and he is referred to as "Marty McFly, Sr." 76.90.16.81 (talk) 17:53, 7 May 2011 (UTC)
- In 2015, yes. In 1985, he's only plain "Marty McFly". So, who wins? - Lyverbe (talk) 23:26, 7 May 2011 (UTC)
- The interesting thing is that he is never called "Marty" by any of the characters in the film. He is always called "Mardy". --leuce (talk) 11:45, 28 November 2011 (UTC)
About the last appearance thing
editI don’t think it’s really warranted because Back to the Future is a big franchise and Marty still appears every once in a while regardless whatever shape and form he’s in, even with Michael J. Fox’s permanent retirement from acting. RayKVega (talk) 02:17, 13 January 2024 (UTC)
