They Thought They Were Free
editShouldn't the book that disguises Marburg as Kronenburg "They Thought They were Free" and includes interviews of ten citizens of Marburg about the war years 1933 - 1945 be included? Here's a link to the author:
Namibian Marburg
editjust read in the news that there's a Namibian region that's called Marburg as well, maybe a list of Marburgs around the world would be nice.. the article is here: http://allafrica.com/stories/200607060091.html Zemlod 06:24, 20 July 2006 (UTC)
University

Marburg virus
editShouldn't the article have some info about the Marburg virus, which is similar to the Ebola virus? It seems that the first outbreak of that virus was in 1967 in Marburg, Germany. This is certainly related to some notable facts in the modern history of Marburg? 84.59.15.244 (talk) 21:52, 12 August 2009 (UTC)
I think the section on the Marburg Virus can be improved. Here is the copy/text from the Marburg Virus Wiki article link: MVD was first documented in 1967, when 31 people became ill in the German towns of Marburg and Frankfurt am Main, and in Belgrade, Yugoslavia. The outbreak involved 25 primary MARV infections and seven deaths, and six nonlethal secondary cases. The outbreak was traced to infected grivets (species Chlorocebus aethiops) imported from an undisclosed location in Uganda and used in developing poliomyelitis vaccines. The monkeys were received by Behringwerke, a Marburg company founded by the first winner of the Nobel Prize in Medicine, Emil von Behring. The company, which at the time was owned by Hoechst, was originally set up to develop sera against tetanus and diphtheria. Primary infections occurred in Behringwerke laboratory staff while working with grivet tissues or tissue cultures without adequate personal protective equipment. Secondary cases involved two physicians, a nurse, a post-mortem attendant, and the wife of a veterinarian. All secondary cases had direct contact, usually involving blood, with a primary case. Both physicians became infected through accidental skin pricks when drawing blood from patients. A popular science account of this outbreak can be found in Laurie Garrett’s book The Coming Plague.
Obviously someone gleaned some small amount of information from this quote; therefore my question is: Why not include more information for the readers who are looking for real information. 184.76.56.97 (talk) 07:10, 8 November 2013 (UTC)JSJR 1172013
Green city
editI would suggest to completely remove this paragraph. The law discussed there was stopped, and will most likely never take place. Despited this law Marburg is not especially greener then any other German city. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 77.9.139.94 (talk) 23:44, 9 December 2009 (UTC)
Does anyone else has some suggestions on deleting this section of the article. I still think, that labeling Marburg as an especially green city is misleading. Although I wish it would be true, however there are much more notable greener cities in Germany, i.e. Freiburg. Since no one else has an opinion, I deleted this section now. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 77.9.140.98 (talk) 21:28, 21 December 2009 (UTC)

WW II missing items (copied from german wiki)
editVarious events known to have occurred in Marburg-Cappel find no mention in the article concerning the Vergassung of the handicapped. Have I missed something here?
http://www1.uni-hamburg.de/rz3a035/psychiatry.html
"Lebensborn The association's specialized physicians included the directors of the Marburg university clinic and of the hygiene institute of the university of Marburg. "
" wurde am 3. Januar 1936 in der chirurgischen Kinik in Marburg zwangssterilisiert. "
Because of the ease with which citations can be found in documents on the internet, it is surprising that there is no note on "T4" action in Marbug Bezirk during the war period. After all, in Marburg, if the victims were merely trucked or bussed to Hadamar, then that was all that happened and we can mention the date and whether there is a memorial. The Irrenanstalt employee interviewed by me had no problem remembering these events - his wife told me (in Cappel) that these events had troubled him until that time (1985)
Here is an Artikel with no mention of NS-Zeit:
http://de.wiki.x.io/wiki/Deutsche_Blindenstudienanstalt
das Wort "Krieg" findet man nur in ref. zu Ersten Weltkrieg so: "Während des Ersten Weltkrieges"
So no one was verschleppt nach Hadamar in der NS-Zeit? Niemand aus Marburg? Auch nicht Judische Einwohner dieses Instituts? Are we in Denmark or Lahn Tal?
Here is a translated quote from a document at our university " IV.36 Request to transport mentally ill East-European workers from the Marburg mental hospital to the collecting place Hadamar, 1st June 1944 "

Dokumente (Uni Minnesota, USA) Zitat (uebersetze) " II.28 Housing of war-prisoners with the Dynamit-A.G, Allendorf in the men's house 5 of the Marburg mental hospital, 14th March 1941 " Kommentar: In November 1940, the chief executive had signed a contract according to which the "Dynamit-Aktien-Gesellschaft" had obtained two buildings from the mental hospital (men's house 5 and women's house 5) for housing its forced laborers. The company kept the premises until March 1942. Every day, the prisoners working In the armaments industry (production of explosives) were taken to the factory in Allendorf (today Stadtallendorf). Up to 25.000 prisoners were forced to work there in three of its buildings for the German Wehrmacht, under conditions that were both inhuman and extremely hazardous for their health.

The document clearly identifies that the space was now available at Marburg Irrenanstalt and was in use.
I see nothing on the decision not to rebuild the Synagogue - curious in that no other important building was lost in Marburg during the NS-zeit

May somebody write a section about the time between 1929/33 till 1945? --141.90.2.58 (talk) 06:59, 5 March 2010 (UTC)
Grivet or Green Monkey
editThe Marburg virus section here points to the Green monkey article, while the article about the Marburg virus points to Grivet monkey(which apparently lives in a different part of Africa). --198.103.152.52 (talk) 13:27, 20 March 2015 (UTC)
