Talk:Map (disambiguation)

There is no listing for linguistic mapping as used to describe metaphoric mapping. The way the word map is used in linguistics in not the same as for mathematics. And the Linguistic map page is just about mapping languages by geography. I'd do it myself, but I would have to research it first. I'm hoping a more qualified person can do it. The following was deleted from the main article.

"*Map, a Tarutaru Samurai on the Titan server of Final Fantasy XI who owns and wears the only Ninurta's Sash in the entire game. It is argued by many that this player should level Ninja to make efficient use of the Sash."

This most likely falls under flamebait and/or vanity page guidelines and is therefore inappropriate. Before adding it back, explain why this needs to be here and the relevance of this person that makes him belong on Wikipedia. There are plenty of other websites for information like this.

-> In response: The reason it needs to be there is quite simple. The Final Fantasy XI community is filled with players of the game who would rather Internet troll than create and maintain intelligent discussion. Map, the player in question, has been a hot topic of discussion, and subsequently, of flames, for the past several months. Much of the community agrees with the above statement, but would rather put it in much harsher words. The point of having and leaving the above entry on the page is to stop the community from adding more inappropriate versions of said text. You may notice that recently there was already a flamebait version posted.

Quite simply, if my entry does not stay on the page, I can guarantee someone else will edit it in at a later time, and more likely a different version that nobody wants to see on there. Can you handle editing these entries out for the next couple of years? I certainly wouldn't want to...

Cheers~ <-

It's not going to be in there. It's not encyclopedic material. We're not here to cater to the internal whims of some internet community. Shimgray | talk | 19:08, 10 August 2006 (UTC)Reply
As the real Map, I in no way condone wiki-vandalism in my name, albeit flattering and humourous. It's really no hassle editing out these annoyances, and persisting will only end up locking the article entirely, only giving further homage to my influence.

Removal of ‘MAP’ in Arts and entertainment

edit

I had added MAP which stand for Multi Animator Project, and when I saw it was deleted I was wondering why. I checked the history and the latest editor has deleted it because there was no article to it. Not every single disambiguation needs an article. I want to add it back without it being deleted.
