Aiport is not elevated to International status
editWe should not get ahead of outselves by basing wikipedia information on plans and intention as reported in the newspapers. I urge all of you not use information that has not materialize yet no matter what was announced. Intentions and projects can change. How do we handle this now? You better hope Malaysia Airports upgrade the name soon officially to the title of this article

Im changing it Back to Batu Berendam Aiport. Its Absolutely ridiculous to change the name of the Aticle based purely on an unnamed source (read rumour). This is the sort of nonsense that makes it hard for Wikipedia's acceptance amongst academic circles! At any rate, the upgrades do not classify it to be an International Airport, even though there can now be flights out of the country (simply because our neighbours are so close by)
Requested move
editMelaka Airport → Batu Berendam Airport — There is not a shred of evidence provided by the vandal who randomly changed the name of the article for reasons I can only speculate to be to advance his or her political agenda. A quick trip to the airport shows that it is still called batu berendam Airport.BaronVonchesto (talk) 10:24, 19 July 2009 (UTC)
The name Malacca International Airport is the proposed name as mentioned by the Chief Minister of Malacca. But there is no indication on when the new name will be used. Article from The Star Twy1 (talk) 03:18, 20 July 2009 (UTC)
That Alone is not sufficient to just rename the article. As it stands the airport is still named Batu Berendam Airport. At most one can only add in a line that says there is a proposal to rename the airport.BaronVonchesto (talk) 07:16, 20 July 2009 (UTC)
- Support There has been some vandalism on some of the Malaysian airports in arbitrarily changing the name of the airport to include the designation 'international', the Sultan Mahmud Airport for example. Stkhoo (talk) 05:49, 21 July 2009 (UTC)
- Update The Airport has now been officialy renamed and as such I have undone the move..BaronVonchesto (talk) 18:28, 16 October 2010 (UTC)
Historically, Batu Berendam Malacca was an airbase by the RAF and during WW2, was captured by the Japanese to make way for a frontal assault. The local people from Bachang were entasked to make the airfield. These were accounts of those who are still surviving in the area. My grandfather was one of them , whom was deployed from RAF Changi to create the airstrip. A Definition of an International Airport is an airport that serves International Destinations. It was once serving Singapore route too until recently. Dr R Azrin (talk) Dr Rapheal Azrin — Preceding undated comment added 07:33, 17 February 2021 (UTC)

Malacca International Airport → Malacca Airport – According to Malaysia's Ministry of Transport, only six airports are officially designated as international: Kuala Lumpur (KLIA), Langkawi, Kuching, Penang, Kota Kinabalu, and Senai. Although airports like Ipoh, Kuantan, Miri, Sibu, and Tawau handle international flights, they are not officially recognized as such, making the designation of Malacca a misnomer. For additional details, refer to the official list of airports on the Ministry of Transport Malaysia's website. Thank you and have a pleasant day ahead د بڠساون (talk) 00:20, 13 December 2024 (UTC)
