Joker's Henchmen?
editDoes anybody know the names of Joker's henchmen? There dressed in purple jester costumes. -- Lord Crayak
From what I can remember, it was something like Punch and Judy. Not sure about Judy.

Fair use rationale for Image:KarloClayface.jpg
editImage:KarloClayface.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.
Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.
If there is other other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot 16:07, 4 June 2007 (UTC)

Too long. Consider splitting?
editThis article is way too long, especially considering that it's a list. Whoever's doing these massive edits, might I consider making separate articles by season of introduction or for some of the longer ones, their own articles? Also, the "COMING SOON" stuff is not especially cosmetically pleasing for an article. InsaneZeroG 23:43, 2 November 2007 (UTC)
Two-Face
editWhy is there no Two Face/Harvey Dent? Way to drop the ball.
It has to with the Bat Embargo obviously. Harvey Dent will be in The Dark Knight. In a few minutes of the movie, he will be Two-Face. Two-Face will be in the the third movie of the new Batman franchise (This info is to inform everyone, and not just this user.) 01:39, 2 July 2008 (UTC) —Preceding unsigned comment added by Schuym1 (talk • contribs)

Image use and size...
editRegarding the individual villain images. While I can understand the need to apply WP:NFC#Policy, there seems to be a disconnect here.
- RE: Point 8 - Since each image is attached to the section for the villain discussed, they are being used to "increase understanding" by giving a visual reference to the character in question.
- RE: Point 3a - IIUC, this is being applied due to the "line-up" image with caption links to specific sections of the list. In some cases that my be justified, but not all. Within Image:The Batman villains.JPG the noted characters of Killer Croc, Harley Quinn, and Clumeaster are not presented in a useful manner to satisfy point 8 within this article (Croc is one with the background, Quinn is all but obscured by Joker, and Clumaster is all but cropped out. Additionally there are character detailed in the article that are not present in "The Batman villains.JPG". For those image there are no grounds to cite 3a.
Looking at the article, there is a manner in which the issue may be resolved - merging the sections out to the relevant comic book characters and leaving a table or bulleted list. The images, which would migrate with the bulk of the text, then serve two purposes - visual reference and indication of changes for adaptation. And it looks like this is already in place in most cases and it would just be a case of cleaning this up after the ArbCom injunction is lifted.
- J Greb (talk) 12:04, 19 February 2008 (UTC)
- No, 3a is being applied as it is in all other similar articles. It's fairly clear - "As few non-free content uses as possible are included in each article and in Wikipedia as a whole. Multiple items are not used if one will suffice; one is used only if necessary.". Since the vast majority of the characters already have their own articles, the fair-use gallery is especially excessive here. For more information, this is especially pertinent. Black Kite 12:14, 19 February 2008 (UTC)
- hrmn... I can see where you're coming from, especially since most of the character entries link back to the comic book characters in some form. Having the images here is redundant. (As is a fair chunk of the text... but that's a separate issue.)
- However... it would be helpful to have something to point to other than what amounts to an essay or mission statement. Is there somewhere that this interpretation is put forward as a clear consensus? - J Greb (talk) 23:55, 19 February 2008 (UTC)
- The actual Wikimedia Foundation policy is at WP:NFCC, which was formed in 2006, and reached it's latest form in 2007. The problem is that it is taking so long to trawl through all the articles that violate the policy, that by the time we reach an article that affects an individual editor, they may not be aware of the policy because the publicity surrounding it was a few years ago.Black Kite 00:04, 20 February 2008 (UTC)
- An it looks like you just hit the same problem with another editor (TAnthony - I've still got the page on watch for an old conversation). He points up the same problem I did - NFCC point 3 is a little vague. And while the FAQ certainly clarifies it, it placement on a sub of your userspace makes it come across as your interpretation and refinement, not official policy. The long and the short - while I can agree with the fundamentals, what your working from is going to generate grief until it's somewhere that reads as policy. - J Greb (talk) 00:35, 20 February 2008 (UTC)
- And on that note I think I may have found something to fill the bill.. WP:NFC#Non-free image use in list articles which is a guideline page using the cited policy page. (sigh Had it open all the time an the penny to sooooo darn long to drop.) - J Greb (talk) 00:45, 20 February 2008 (UTC)
- Yes - though remember that NFCC is policy whilst NFC is a guideline. The important bit of NFC is probably Wikipedia:NFC#Images where it points out that non-free images must be used for critical comment, not just for identification purposes. Black Kite 00:54, 20 February 2008 (UTC)
- True... but cites of guideline pages tend to get less chaff. And there is a back and forth on the "critical comment" since a singular ID image for fictional characters, especially from visual media, can be said to help a reader's understanding of a topic.
- As an aside - WP:NFC also helps with a problem I got in a different article - bulleted list section with a couple of images applied that really aren't doing much more than taking up space. Remove 'em as decoration, an editor keeps putting them back demanding a policy/guide cite. NFC is at least a start. - J Greb (talk) 01:05, 20 February 2008 (UTC)

(unindent) I think the policy is fairly clear; the FAQ in my userspace (which I borrowed from an admin who retired after being legally threatened whilst doing this sort of work) isn't an interpretation but more an attempt to word it in more user-friendly terms. Yes, I do get a lot of grief doing this type of work, but it's understandable when editors see their work being chopped down like that. In the end, though, the Foundation have said we have to do this, though it's a long job (see this list of over 1,000 articles with 10 or more fair-use images - and that list's well out of date as well). Black Kite 00:55, 20 February 2008 (UTC)
Villains for The Batman (TV series) not Batman in general.
editI just removed a block about Scarecrow, and had previously removed one for Two-Face. Neither of these characters appeared on this show. This article is specifically about the recent series The Batman (TV series), not for Batman villains in general. Dstumme (talk) 20:26, 29 July 2008 (UTC)
Lacking Overall Quality
editWhat happened to this page? It used to be terrific! Who changed it? —Preceding unsigned comment added by Neurolanis (talk • contribs) 15:45, 10 August 2008 (UTC)
Good lord, this page is horrible. Not only is it poorly written, it also lists each villain's real name, even if their real name was never confirmed in the show.--24.255.171.220 (talk) 02:11, 6 May 2010 (UTC)
Multiple issue/Clean up article
editThis page has multiple issues, I've already cleaned up before. By the end of this discussion, if you agree, all you need to do is revert the article back to this revision. Mr. Simon Green (talk) 17:37, 1 May 2011 (UTC)
- No, you broke it. Now, would you like to out line what you think needs to be done to fix it? - J Greb (talk) 18:57, 1 May 2011 (UTC)
Issues I fixed.
- Better lead section.
- merged the appearance list and voice actor/actress list in to character's biography.
- expanded character bios.
- wrote why two face and scarecrow did not appear in the Batman.
I would suggest...
- fixing what ever i did wrong if i did.
I would like to merge this list into a new article titled List of characters in The Batman which will also include the heroes and supporting characters.
Expand more bios.
- Let's see... aside from editing while discussing, which is bad form.
- Lists of characters in television shows should not be primarily long plot summaries.
- Clearly delineating real world context - actors and short episode lists - is a plus.
- The bios as they stand could all be looked at for trimming. Adding more plot is not desirable. Brief descriptions and origins that "hit the high points" are preferable.
- Limitations the production had with what characters it could use are best delt with in the article on the show. And even then, when adding them include sources for the information. Please don't use "It seems to me...", "It is obvious that...", or "It is said/rumored/implied..."
- IF a List of characters in The Batman is created and this article is folded into it, the bios here will need severe trimming at the very least. Beyond that, the use of appearance lists will likely end given the number of episodes some characters appeared in.
- - J Greb (talk) 22:37, 6 May 2011 (UTC)

New project/plan
editInstead of expanding bios. I will trim them. I will trim ones like the joker and catwoman because they appear in comics and other media. It's just repeating those articles. However, characters like Everyone Man and Rumor only appear here in this series. Those bios are needed but I will trim any unnessicary details.
Instead of using actor lists and lists of appearances, i include them in bios to make it at a real world prospective. Such as
- Actor
character bio
- appearances
Instead we should do this:
Character first appeared in "Episode" voiced by Voice actor. Etc.
Cause it's cleaner and at a Real world prospective. Mr. Simon Green (talk) 19:02, 7 May 2011 (UTC)
- Frankly recasting a a table may be a better solution. Literally this would look like:
Character | Actor | Description | Appearances |
---|---|---|---|
Joker |
|
Joker is based off of the comic book character but no origin is provided within the series. He is shown as a chronic resident of Arkham Asylum who commits elaberat crimes when free. He views these as "jokes" at the expense of Batman, the police, or the city in general. |
|
Temblor |
|
David Temblor is a supervillain for hire that uses vibration producing gauntlets. The vibrations are created as shockwaves when either of the gauntlets is struck against a solid surface such as the ground or each other. The character was created specifically for the television series and not based off of an existing DC Comics character. | Batgirl Begins, pt 1 |
- I'd also suggest setting a target length for the description - possible in the range of 250 - 500 characters - to keep the length down. And there are lots of things that can be removed wholesale: exhaustive lists of equipment, comments on the story lines from each episode, suppositions, assumptions, fan speculation, fanish comparisons, and the like. Remember WP:PLOT and WP:OR.
- Also... adding material from The Batman Strikes is not needed.
- - J Greb (talk) 21:38, 7 May 2011 (UTC)
Table I'm using
editCharacter | Actor | Description | Appearances |
