Which (and where) are the historic schools of forestry?
edit...all around the world, going back to the latter part of the 18th century, perhaps earlier. Some are likely more recent, too, including in newly developing countries. In starting this list, my thought is not to list every school, but those that are particularly noteworthy in their own time and place... Thanks in advance for your contributions! South African Forestry School
editCame across this photo in WikiMedia Commons. No article on this school that I can see. The photo is dated 1910. Anyone have any information on this school: when it was founded, by whom, etc.? Thanks, DA Sonnenfeld (talk) 17:02, 1 March 2013 (UTC)
- Partially answered my own question, in an article about Joseph Storr Lister. Snip:
"In 1906 he established the South African Forestry School at Tokai in order to train men for the higher grades of forest service, and in 1912 the School started training foresters. Twenty years later in 1932 the training of foresters was moved to Saasveld Forestry College near George and was known as the 'Saasveld College for Foresters'."
- Looks like the dates of the school may be 1906-1932. If anyone has more information, they are welcome to post it here, or to start an article on the topic! Thanks, DA Sonnenfeld (talk) 17:07, 1 March 2013 (UTC)
