editIt is incorrect to call the first secretary as the Mayor. In fact, the city's head was the Chairman of Moscow City Executive Committee.--MathFacts (talk) 10:10, 21 June 2009 (UTC)
General-Governor or Governor-General?
editIn 1864 the head of the Moscow Military District was called General-Governor, appointed by the emperor himself. According to the German Wikipedia this was merely an honorary title. Perhaps the title Governor-General should be applied in the years before? In English the title is mixed up, very confusing. What I understand is that Fyodor Rostopchin had no military power, and Felix Yusupov Sr. had no administrative power.Taksen (talk) 03:44, 18 May 2021 (UTC)
- Taksen, we have to use sources. A lot of confusing things. The website of the mayor of Moscow says Felix Felixovich Yusupov Sr (1856 — 1928) had 3 offices in 1914-1915 [1]: "Commander of the Moscow Military District" (командующий Московским военным округом), he was appointed in Autumn 1914, "higher chief of the Moscow Military District" (главный начальник Московского военного округа) from 5 May 1915 to 19 June 1915 and "higher chief over Moscow" (главноначальствующий над Москвой) from 5 May 1915 to 3 September 1915 (highlighted in bold as his main office on the website of the mayor of Moscow). The dates are taken from the Russian Wikipedia. ruASG+1 00:03, 12 December 2021 (UTC)
- Fyodor Rostopchin was "Moscow military governor" (Московский военный губернатор) from 24 May 1812 to 29 May 1812 and he was "Moscow commander-in-chief" (Московский главнокомандующий) from 29 May 1812 to 30 August 1814 as the website of the mayor of Moscow says [2]. The Russian Wikipedia says from 29 May 1812 to 30 August 1814 he was "commander-in-chief in Moscow and administrator of civil affairs" (главнокомандующий в Москве и управляющий по гражданской части). ruASG+1 00:19, 12 December 2021 (UTC)
- It seems that this list of "Commanders of the Troops of the Moscow Military District" is correct. But Moscow Military District also had "Heads of the Staff of the Moscow Military District". Pyotr Pavlovich Durnovo was Moscow Governor (in 1872–1878) and Moscow Governor-General (from July to November 1905) but he was never a "Commander (of the Troops) of the Moscow Military District". Nikolai Nikolayevich Malakhov was the Commander of the Troops of the Moscow Military District in that time from February 1905 to January 1906. All of the above are different positions. ruASG+1 02:07, 12 December 2021 (UTC)
