Missing stars

edit

It seems to me that some prominent stars are missing from the list, notably Fomalhaut. Is there a reason for the absence, or should I add it? Dotancohen (talk) 11:42, 8 June 2012 (UTC)Reply

The only claimed planet around Fomalhaut was imaged in visible light but further observations in infrared cast doubt on planet's existence. PlanetStar 20:43, 8 June 2012 (UTC)Reply
I see, thanks. Perhaps these suspected stars should be included, with a footnote mentioning the doubt. Dotancohen (talk) 14:34, 18 June 2012 (UTC)Reply
This page only lists 723 planets. The NASA exoplanet archive shows 800 confirmed exoplanets. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 168.156.41.220 (talk) 21:20, 8 November 2012 (UTC)Reply
Fomalhaut b is now confirmed. --Artman40 (talk) 09:07, 24 December 2012 (UTC)Reply
Kepler-47 is not listed and the link shows that it has two planets around it. This should probably be added though I don't know all the particulars. Perhaps someone else could add it? Dismas|(talk) 04:09, 29 August 2012 (UTC)Reply

Metallicity of Alpha Centauri

edit

Tcgriffen put down a metallicity of 13 for Alpha Centauri. That simply cannot be true... 68.32.39.206 (talk) 19:44, 22 October 2012 (UTC)Reply

Multiple star systems

edit

Is it possible to add an indication if the star belongs to a binary or multiple star system? Stars like NY Virginis and Kepler-47 are binaries and the statistics are only for one of the stars. --Artman40 (talk) 09:07, 24 December 2012 (UTC)Reply

Split

edit

I've started a new list based on this one, which should be much easier to maintain: List of nearest exoplanets. It should be limited to 50 ly away. Feel free to help make that list complete. Nergaal (talk) 15:54, 11 March 2014 (UTC)Reply

Add our Sun for comparition purposes?

edit

Wouldn't it be interesting for readers to have the sun included to compare the values in the table with those of our own star? I could try to add it, but I would like to hear your opinion about it first. --Snevern (talk) 09:16, 28 July 2014 (UTC)Reply

The mass and radius values are in solar units. Simply you can just add Sun with row of data to the top of the list for a full picture, but Sun should not be included here since it would contradict the title. PlanetStar 23:21, 28 July 2014 (UTC)Reply

This list is outdated and poorly maintained, and is almost identical in scope to the better-maintained List of multiplanetary systems (the only difference being that this list also includes single-planet systems). I propose redirecting this article to List of multiplanetary systems, and merging any content that's worth merging. An alternative could be to merge that list into this one, though I would prefer restricting the list to multi-planet systems to keep the size down. Redirect As far as I can tell, the last major update to this list was in May 2012(!) Updating it to today would probably require a multi-page-long list that would end up mostly being a duplicate of the chronological exoplanet lists. It's worth noting that even List of multiplanetary systems has a proposal dating from October to trim the list down even further by only including systems with at least three confirmed planets. Redirect I agree with Ionmars10 - the List of exoplanetary host stars is poorly maintained and is unlikely to be improved in the future.Trurle (talk) 00:54, 12 January 2021 (UTC)Reply
Comment I would reccomend that the 2-planet systems be removed. 🪐Kepler-1229b | talk | contribs🪐 03:45, 16 January 2021 (UTC)Reply
