editMyers University(formerly Dyke College) is now called Chancellor University. New name/ new address. Chancellor is "on parole" for academic reasons. The Edison Community College link under the 2-year community schools portals to a college in Florida under the same name. /needs to be changed. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 4.89.184.201 (talk) 06:03, 20 November 2007 (UTC)
Hopefully someone is watching this page. I recommend that NEOUCOM be removed from Medical Schools (Unaffiliated with Universities) because it is affiliated with 3 public universities. Perhaps there should be a new heading for medical schools altogether? I also recommend that The Medical University of Ohio, Toledo should be removed from the same heading. This is in light of the recent news...
- Regents unanimously approve MUO/UT combination
- December 16 2005
- The Medical University of Ohio and The University of Toledo are another step closer to becoming one entity following unanimous approval of such a combination on Friday, Dec. 16, by the Ohio Board of Regents during a special meeting held at the Ohio Aerospace Institute (OAI) in Cleveland, Ohio....
Public Ivy
editThere have been two books listing "public ivy" universities. Moll in 1985 and Greene in 2001. In my honest opinion, both are highly subjective and far from the best college rankings out there. They both, however, are equally relevent and are noted as such on wikipedia's own article on the subject.--Sam Harmon 10:20, 6 May 2006 (UTC)
Inconsistent Figures
editThe total enrollment of the schools listed at the bottom of the page is inconsistent. OSU is listed as 59K while it has 51.8 on the main campus http://www.osu.edu/osutoday/stuinfo.php . BGSU is listed as 18K while it has 21K total enrollment http://www.bgsu.edu/offices/mc/newsroom/page15781.html . I don't really care which one is used, but it should be consistent throughout.
List?
editThis seems like two entries - one being the actual list and one being a general description of the contents of that list.
Private schools
editMany of the private schools (like Wooster and Oberlin) were once affiliated with Christian churches, but no longer are. I think the non-profit non-sectarian schools should be grouped together. Then the Roman Catholic schools and other denominations with several Ohio colleges could have categories and the other Christian schools could be their own category. —Preceding unsigned comment added by TomStike (talk • contribs) 02:45, 26 April 2008 (UTC)
Personally, I hate all the grouping of the private schools. I'm trying to look up schools for a research project (I'm a researcher, not a student) and I have to *KNOW* what sort of private school I'm looking for in order to find it, or look through every list until I find it. It's very inefficient and not user friendly. The less divided up sub-groups on other state lists of colleges and universities are much more user friendly than this Ohio page. How am I supposed to know that Capital University is Lutheran, for example? DocOctopus (talk) 23:36, 8 March 2010 (UTC)
'Other' private colleges
editI deleted the list for 'Other major private colleges and universities in Ohio'. Without set criteria, this seems like it will just be a laundry list (which we have below that it is in the article already). What is the standard for 'major'. If it is enrollment, then Hiram and Mount Vernon do not belong. Is it being noteworthy? Then I would include Mount Union for its football success. Is it broad scope? If so, why not Ohio Northern, which has five distinct colleges (A&S, Engineering, Law, Pharmacy, and Business). As I think it is clear, this can get out of hand and should just be removed. Maybe a list of universities highly ranked in US News reports in each catagory may be appropriate, but just this vague list seems like a plug for a favorite school. Ohio Technical College
editI suggest include Ohio Technical College [1] --Mac (talk) 13:33, 1 October 2008 (UTC)
In regards to the table
editI'm thinking there's WAY too much extraneous information about each school in there. If I want to know the school colors, radio station call letters, etc., I'll click through to the appropriate articles. As it is right now, it looks really cluttered. Enrollment numbers
editOn the list that ranks the colleges and universities by enrollment, make sure the entire school enrollment is included (all campuses), not just the main campus. This is especially important for schools that have sizable regional campus enrollments like Kent State and Ohio U. --JonRidinger (talk) 21:08, 2 February 2009 (UTC)
Hondros
editI would suggest inclusion of Hondros College and Hondros School of Nursing — Preceding unsigned comment added by 74.218.18.17 (talk) 20:40, 30 January 2012 (UTC)
