Neutrality concerns
editHow does "NPOV" require us to treat Kosovo as part of Serbia? Airports in Kosovo are in Kosovo, not in Serbia; they're subject to Kosovan regulation and run by Kosovan operators. FOr example, this source doesn't mention Serbia once. And rightly so. Times change; Kosovo declared independence in 2008; it might have been reasonable to treat Kosovo as part of Serbia a few years ago, but not now. bobrayner (talk) 18:22, 6 November 2013 (UTC)
- Kosovo is either part of Serbia or separate from Serbia, depending on your point of view. De facto it is (mostly) separate; de jure... well, it depends on who you are. So we should try to reflect both viewpoints - not easy, but I thought this article (and the associated template) had found a compromise. "Airports in Serbia (with Kosovo)" is not definitely treating Kosovo as part of Serbia - it can be interpreted in two ways. Kosovo as part of Serbia, or Kosovo and additionally Serbia. It's deliberately ambiguous and therefore NPOV. Your proposal that Kosovo is not in Serbia, and the recent changes to these articles, are POV, albeit the majority POV. - It is POV to show that Kosovan airports are within Serbia as the majority of countries in the world dispute this, they dispute that the airspace above Kosovo is 'Serbian' and they recognise that they are going through Kosovan (not Serbian) customs and excise at Kosovan airports. However it is also POV to treat Kosovo as not being apart of Serbia, regardless of the 'de facto' status because some countries recognise their nations aeroplanes landing in Kosovo as officially being in Serbia. This is why it is a tricky situation and as Bazonka rightly says, we must find a neutral solution because Wikipedia can't take sides. The article title "Airports in Serbia (with Kosovo)" is not perfect and I don't particularly like it personally, but I can't think of a more neutral solution unless we have "Airports of Serbia" then at the bottom of the article we have "Airports of Kosovo" with a 'See Main Article" section. - IJA is right that the current title is not neutral. But having a separate article, and taking Kosovo out of the title of the list of airports in Serbia, would solve this. For instance, we have a separate List of airports in Queensland but we don't have to worry about Australian nationalists saying it defies their territorial integrity.
