Honey G being split
editA suggestion to give Honey G a separate article was made but though it links to discussion on this talk page, there is no discussion. So I'm starting it. Honey G should not have her own article until (unless) her single charts in the UK Singles Chart. If her single fails to chart, then she should only get her own article when she does something else notable outside of The X Factor, such as gains a successful TV presenting career or goes on Celebrity Big Brother. anemoneprojectors 18:48, 15 December 2016 (UTC)
- Procedural Support -Agreed. Let's see how her single does in the charts and then go from there. Class455 ( Merry Christmas!) 14:05, 18 December 2016 (UTC)
It failed to reach the UK top 100 singles: http://www.officialcharts.com/charts/singles-chart/ — Preceding unsigned comment added by 81.141.68.185 (talk) 18:05, 30 December 2016 (UTC)
- Number 149 to be exact. Unreal7 (talk) 22:39, 30 December 2016 (UTC)
- Would a song charting that low normally have an article, if the artist had an independent article? Personally I would say this is probably not notable, so a brief mention in her list entry would do for now. anemoneprojectors 16:45, 2 January 2017 (UTC)
- Ummmmm... but songs that charted even lower than that have articles. Foxnpichu (talk) 21:46, 3 January 2017 (UTC)
- Honestly she's not going away any time soon and she'll probably be on Celebrity Big Brother at some point so I see no harm in an article. Unreal7 (talk) 12:58, 7 January 2017 (UTC)
- @Unreal7: "she'll probably be on Celebrity Big Brother at some point" but you don't know that and she might not be, see WP:CRYSTAL, "I see no harm in an article", see WP:HARM.
- @Foxnpichu: "songs that charted even lower than that have articles" - is that because they charted or because there is lots of information about the writing, performance, composition of the song? Or is it just a short stub? Are there any musicians who have an article based on a single charting that low? Also, WP:OTHERSTUFFEXISTS.
- I still think WP:BLP1E could apply to Honey G. She might just disappear into obscurity. However, does she pass criterion #2 of WP:MUSICBIO with a song charting that low? If so then WP:BLP1E wouldn't apply. If she fails WP:MUSICBIO, then WP:GNG doesn't apply either because WP:BLP1E trumps that - unless The X Factor is considered a significant event, and Honey G's role in the event is both substantial and well-documented. Is The X Factor really a significant event (along the lines of the attempted assassination of Ronald Reagan, the only reason John Hinckley Jr. has an article)? Or is it just a television show? Was Honey G's role substantial, or was she just a contestant who didn't reach the top 3? anemoneprojectors 16:53, 7 January 2017 (UTC)
- She's already more notable than the South Korean boy band have ever been in the English-speaking world. Unreal7 (talk) 23:30, 8 January 2017 (UTC)

- Support - her single charted. She is not going away anytime soon. An article about her is justified.--BabbaQ (talk) 00:49, 10 January 2017 (UTC)
- @BabbaQ: Does charting that low count? This question still hasn't been answered. Also, as I already said to Unreal7, see WP:CRYSTAL regarding "She is not going away anytime soon". anemoneprojectors 13:20, 13 January 2017 (UTC)
- Support per my above reasoning. Unreal7 (talk) 15:35, 12 January 2017 (UTC)
- @Unreal7: Being (in your opinion) more notable than someone else who has an independent article is an invalid argument. Does she pass WP:MUSICBIO or does WP:BLP1E still apply? anemoneprojectors 13:20, 13 January 2017 (UTC)
- Yes, it does. Unreal7 (talk) 16:49, 13 January 2017 (UTC)
- So I'm confused. If you're agreeing that WP:BLP1E still applies, are you supporting an independent article or retaining the redirect? anemoneprojectors 17:00, 13 January 2017 (UTC)
- I support an independent article. Unreal7 (talk) 00:53, 15 January 2017 (UTC)

- Note the "procedural support" above is in support of retaining a redirect - the two "support" votes here are presumably in support of an independent article. I'd quite like to hear from Class455 again. anemoneprojectors 13:20, 13 January 2017 (UTC)
- Note - it's been over 2 weeks now. Is this happening? Unreal7 (talk) 00:25, 1 February 2017 (UTC)
- It's not been a very wide discussion, I still wanted to hear from Class455. Would an independ article really be any longer than the current list entry (adding tables, infoboxes, lead sections, reference sections, etc, doesn't count). anemoneprojectors 11:43, 7 February 2017 (UTC)
- I think the list entry is good enough for now, as her song didn't get very far up in the charts to make her notable, and sorry for the delay, AnemoneProjectors, I've been incredibly busy lately. Class455 (talk|stand clear of the doors!) 11:57, 7 February 2017 (UTC)
- That's ok. Anyway we appear to be split with me and Class455 saying that the list entry is good enough and Unreal7 and BabbaQ wanting an independent article. I thought I'd see if she has done anything since her single was released, and all I found were some bits about The X Factor tour, making some minor appearances in clubs and her complaining that her single wasn't promoted, none of which add to her notability. She claims she wants to release more music after the tour, so perhaps we should wait for a second single or an album and see how that goes. I might support an independent article then. anemoneprojectors 13:16, 17 February 2017 (UTC)
- That sounds fair. Foxnpichu (talk) 12:46, 20 February 2017 (UTC)
- There is a consensus to create an article about Honey G. So lets create it. If no one does it I will.--BabbaQ (talk) 13:42, 26 May 2017 (UTC)
- @BabbaQ: Where is this consensus? — anemoneprojectors 20:50, 13 June 2017 (UTC)

- Take a look at the discussion above. Or what have you been reading. There is a clear consensus for a split article. @Unreal7: @Class455: - should we create an article? Her single charted, she has started her own record label and is still in the media eye a year after X Factor.BabbaQ (talk) 23:57, 21 December 2017 (UTC)
- In a word, yes. Unreal7 (talk) 00:02, 22 December 2017 (UTC)

- I haven’t really been following what’s going on but if she’s still in the public eye, I think an article could pass GNG. Class455 (talk|stand clear of the doors!) 09:50, 22 December 2017 (UTC)
