Moved page, reduced length
editI couldn't stand the character bios listing far more information than necessary, so I cut a lot of it out. Most characters have their own pages anyway, and the rest could use pages for their 4-5 different incarnations. I don't have a problem with people adding more information back in, but this page doesn't need every single detail. Phony Saint 04:42, 28 March 2007 (UTC)
Categorization by HiME
editI'm particularly against grouping them by HiME status. Part of the story is revealing which characters are HiMEs. In addition, the story doesn't really make a distinction between HiME and non-HiME - Yuuichi, Takumi, Mashiro, and the others play just as significant roles as the HiME, if not more. Aside from the main three which you see in the first episode - Mai, Mikoto, and Natsuki - there's no point in revealing the others' HiME status. Unless there's overwhelming consensus to group them by HiME I'm going to revert in a day. Phony Saint 14:07, 30 March 2007 (UTC)
I believe they should be grouped as Hime because Hime is what they are. You can be a member of multiple groups as they are but one aspect of you will be predominant in this case it is their role as Hime's. Anyway why hide the fact the series has been over for a long time. We don't hide the fact that Goku's a saiyan for example.84.13.63.36 21:32, 30 March 2007 (UTC)Sigojwana
- Nobody hides the fact that Goku's a Saiyan because that's what Dragon Ball Z states early on and is the premise for the entire series. Similarly, Mai, Mikoto, and Natsuki are shown as HiME during the first two episodes and I don't mind about them, but all of the other characters are introduced as students/staff before revealing their HiME status. I feel that it's better to leave HiME status to a plot summary page or someplace else where you expect plot spoilers to be, not the character list page. Phony Saint 21:02, 31 March 2007 (UTC)
If your intention is to avoid spoilers then I can see your point but a great many articles in Wikipedia are full of unwitting spoilers. Personally I think people should expect to be spoiled when they visit Wikipedia to explore a series. Anyway Hime is a category and so there is no problem in grouping them as such. If you want to group them otherwise eliminate Hime as a category84.13.144.159 23:04, 31 March 2007 (UTC)Sigojwana
- I don't have a problem with spoilers if they were necessary, but they aren't for this character list. I originally rewrote the characters list to not have a HiME category, instead sorting them by Fuka students, Fuka staff, and Others (see this older version). Somebody else put back in the HiME categorization, which is why I asked for consensus. Phony Saint 01:05, 1 April 2007 (UTC)
Well I prefer them to be grouped as Hime's but I can't be spoiled having watched it already. In order to avoid spoiling others I agree with your format that is the one sans a Hime category.
Additionally I was thinking the character pages shiould be standardised eg Mai Hime anime bio, Element and Child(if they're a Hime), Hime manga differances, Mai Otome, Robe and suchlike(if they're an Otome) and finally Otome manga differances. As they are some of the pages such as Mashiro's has the Mai Hime anime bit going last. It's not really a problem but it adds to uniformity 89.240.193.133 18:48, 1 April 2007 (UTC) Sigojwana
- I changed it back to Students, Staff, and Others. What I have in mind for each character page are five sections:
- General description of the character. Some things stay the same throughout all 4 versions of the character, such as Natsuki and guns, Haruka and Yukino paired up, and Shizuru drinking tea.
- 4 sections for each of the series, with:
- A subsection for general character information and powers (not just HiME and Otome powers, as several characters exhibit powers outside of those categories).
- A subsection for a very short summary of what the character does.
- I'd like to avoid having large plot summary-like pages, as that is against WP:WAF. A plot summary can be left to a plot page and the episodes list. I'm currently rewatching My-HiME and taking notes so I can cite the more important information. Phony Saint 00:07, 2 April 2007 (UTC)
