Merge discussion
edit- The following discussion is closed. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made in a new section. A summary of the conclusions reached follows.
- There appears to be clear consensus for merging these articles. However, discussion has fizzled out over three years ago with no merge action taking place. Not being familiar with this topic, I am removing the tag but not merging the articles. If an editor wishes to merge them, please be WP:BOLD and do so. WTF? (talk) 23:04, 25 January 2013 (UTC)
The large majority of the Dragon Ball soundtrack albums fail WP:MUSIC and are not notable enough to have their own articles. Most are nothing more than stubs with the release date, badly formatted track lists, and a non-free image. As such, merging to a central location, similar to what has been done with other series would be the best option, similar to List of Final Fantasy compilation albums or List of Haruhi Suzumiya albums. Thoughts? -- AnmaFinotera (talk · contribs) 03:25, 5 August 2009 (UTC)
- I thought they were good track lists. The only thing deserving is the Hit Song Collection series, the American Soundtrack series, and the Game Music series, with the later two already made into list by me. The Final Bout soundtrack was re-dirrected to the game's article. The Hit Song Collection holds more merits due to it being re-released twice and most complation albums and boxsets are derived from this series. Quite frankly, there are just too many Dragon Ball albums to put together in one list. Sarujo (talk) 17:24, 5 August 2009 (UTC)
- I think the best course of action would be to parallel the formatting with the Final Fantasy listing (which is also a featured article). The current set up requires individual articles, but if that can be achieved, then I recommend merging the list into one. –turiantalk 19:13, 5 August 2009 (UTC)
- Merge them all, whether they are independently notable or not. If the resulting list ends up too long, follow summary style. I wonder why this even needs to be discussed. Goodraise 20:01, 5 August 2009 (UTC)
- Because consensus should be reached due to a disagreement. And a drastic edit such as this should be discussed. –túrianpatois 21:07, 9 August 2009 (UTC)
- Merging them would not have been reckless and may have spared us this discussion. Anyways, I wasn't actually wondering why it needs to be discussed. I was merely trying to emphasize just how obvious this case looks to me. Goodraise 21:55, 9 August 2009 (UTC)
- I'm aware of that discussion and I fail to see your point. Goodraise 22:41, 9 August 2009 (UTC)
- By blinding doing it, it would have easily caused an edit war. That is my point. –túrianpatois 22:47, 9 August 2009 (UTC)
- I don't see how an edit, however bold it may be, could possibly cause an edit war. Goodraise 23:10, 9 August 2009 (UTC)
- You haven't been to the Kai episodes page lately. You'll know what I mean if you read the discussion section.—Preceding unsigned comment added by 68.192.41.246 (talk • contribs)
- I have been there. I have read all the discussions. And I don't know what you mean. Goodraise 07:12, 10 August 2009 (UTC)
I have to agree with Goodraise. This is a case of Bold/Revert/Discuss. After the first revert it might be good to discuss, but there could be a chance that no one would opposed you and the edit would stand. Anyway, this should be merged. --Kraftlos (Talk | Contrib) 09:02, 10 August 2009 (UTC)
It doesn't matter if any individual album or soundtrack can independantly demonstrate sufficient notability for a separate article at this time, because there isn't a single quality article in the bunch (if there is, point it out, and I will happily retract that statement). Merge all of them here, clean up and expand this list, and then (and only then) start looking at individual soundtracks/albums to see if they can support their own article. Merges aren't permanent, and I have absolutely no problem with re-splitting them if they can support a separate article. 「ダイノガイ千?!」? · Talk⇒Dinoguy1000 18:40, 11 August 2009 (UTC)
- Well lets see:
- Cha-La Head-Cha-La has many covers and releases.
- Dan Dan Kokoro Hikarete 'ku has been covered at least once by Izumi Sakai.
- Don't You See! was voted one of Izumi Sakai most popular songs by Oricon poll.
- Sabitsuita Machine Gun de Ima o Uchinukō has been covered at least once by Miho Komatsu.
- Super Survivor has substantual third party coverage.
- Hikari no Sasu Mirai e! has substantual third party coverage.
- Dragonball Evolution: Original Motion Picture Soundtrack has substantual development third party coverage.
- Dragon Ball Z & Z 2 Original Soundtrack has substantual third party coverage.
- Dragon Ball Z 3 Original Soundtrack has substantual third party coverage.
- Dragon Ball Z: Burst Limit Original Soundtrack has substantual third party coverage.
- Dragon Ball Z: Infinite World Original Soundtrack has substantual third party coverage.
- Inazuma Challenger could use some work as I've found an article dicussing the its development and colaboration, could go either way.
- Akira Toriyama: The World is merely just an article about two albums, could go either way. Sarujo (talk) 22:16, 11 August 2009 (UTC)
- Thanks for the list (yep, I retract that statement above ;) ). Several of these are stubs, though, and in these cases, is it likely that they will ever be able to be expanded beyond a stub? If not, merging them should probably still be looked at. 「ダイノガイ千?!」? · Talk⇒Dinoguy1000 17:10, 12 August 2009 (UTC)
- There is consensus here that (most of) the separate articles should be merged into here. I personally dislike doing that, because I tend to be less impressed by wp:notability. But if someone feels he is up to it: go ahead! No need to wait for anything, just do it. Debresser (talk) 18:11, 7 October 2009 (UTC)
- Well, even ignoring the notability guidelines, it is highly unlikely that most of these articles, once cleaned up, could ever progress beyond a stub (or sub-stub, in many cases). 「ダイノガイ千?!」? · Talk⇒Dinoguy1000 19:50, 7 October 2009 (UTC)
Insert Song Page or Section
editDoes anyone think there should be an insert song page somewhere on Wikipedia. Maybe here, the series' pages, or just a whole new page altogether. I'd like to make one, or at least a section, but I won't until I hear two or three people agree or disagree with the decision. User:DBZfan29 11:54, 10 August 2009 (EDT)
- I'm afraid I don't understand... what exactly is it? –túrianpatois 16:00, 10 August 2009 (UTC)
- If you saw episode 17 of Dragon Ball Kai, you'd know what I was talking about. An insert song is a song "inserted" into an episode. In this case, "Over the Star" by Saki Oshitani, featured in the Yeah! Break! Care! Break! single, was used while Bulma saw all of her dead friends. User:DBZfan29 12:03, 10 August 2009 (EDT)
- I don't watch DB anymore... but I don't think it is really that worthwhile. Since they are both related, it doesn't stand out. –túrianpatois 16:10, 10 August 2009 (UTC)
- Now I don't understand. What do you mean? This page or section could be small - similar to this Kanzentai page (follow link) - http://www.kanzentai.com/theme.php?id=insert_songs User:DBZfan29 12:21, 10 August 2009 (EDT)
- The only way I could see this fly is if there is an asterisk by the songs that are included which goes down to note the inclusion. But even then, I don't like it. –túrianpatois 16:24, 10 August 2009 (UTC)
- I don't like that idea much either because it would just be too much work since there are so many soundtracks (I have a feeling AnmaFinotera is saying "I told you so!" at this very moment). Let's just forget this discussion, unless other people agree. User:DBZfan29 12:31, 10 August 2009 (EDT)

- No, these are generally not notable and are not included in any normal, quality soundtrack list. -- AnmaFinotera (talk · contribs) 22:37, 10 August 2009 (UTC)
Dragon Ball Kai Song Collecton
editEven though the discussion of a possible merging of every Dragon Ball soundtrack page to here is still ongoing, I was wondering if I can begin working on the page of the Dragon Ball Kai Song Collection? While there isn't much info beyond a release date, a tiny description from CDJapan, and a full track-listing on Play-Asia, I still would like to start the page. Another issue would have to be with citing my information, which is going to be hard since product listings are rarely excepted as reliable sources. Anyway, anyone oppose? D4c3nt3n0 (talk) 03:24, 7 September 2009 (UTC)
- Please do not. It is not a notable CD, completely failing WP:MUSIC and does not need an article at all. It would just be one more than needs to be merged here. If you want to add a section here for that CD, with reliable sources, that should be okay, just follow the proper format. See List of Popotan soundtracks for a nearly ideal soundtrack list (currently an FLC) -- AnmaFinotera (talk · contribs) 03:30, 7 September 2009 (UTC)
- Thanks, so I should do something like this - write a little paragraph on the CD, list the tracks (collapsed until shown by user), and if the songs were previously on any other CD (some of the songs were released on the CD singles, etc.). Some thing like this:
No. | Title | Previously Released On | Length |
---|---|---|---|
1. | "Dragon Soul" (Opening Theme of Dragon Ball Kai) | "Dragon Soul" CD Single (May 20, 2009) | 4:26 |
Of course I'll mention the credits, too, but that's just an example. I'm really tired right know so I'll do it in the morning... D4c3nt3n0 (talk) 04:01, 7 September 2009 (UTC)
- Yes, though if it only has one or two tracks, a track listing really isn't needed, just stuck to prose. -- AnmaFinotera (talk · contribs) 04:04, 7 September 2009 (UTC)
- Well, it contains four tracks from the CD singles and about four or more tracks of unreleased and unheard of songs. That brings it to a total of eight to ten. I'll check it when I make the edit. 65.167.42.149 (talk) 04:33, 7 September 2009 (UTC)

Just as a general comment, it may be acceptable to create Dragon Ball Kai Song Collection as a redirect to here. 「ダイノガイ千?!」? · Talk⇒Dinoguy1000 04:49, 7 September 2009 (UTC)

Dragon Ball Kai Soundtracks
editI know I may be contradicting what I have said in the past, but it should be understood that the word "volume" is not on the actual cover but is still promoted as such. Basically, what I am getting at is that volume should still be there even if an image (which cannot be used to justify things, I think) doesn't say it. It helps separate the two soundtrack release. It isn't the second original soundtrack, it is the second volume of the original soundtrack. Any thoughts? D4c3nt3n0 (talk) 21:41, 16 October 2009 (UTC)
- I don't think volume should be added until it can be confirmed its part of the official title (rather than a label some sellers are adding to distinguish it from potential future volumes. -- AnmaFinotera (talk · contribs) 22:29, 16 October 2009 (UTC)
- I agree. Last time I checked, retail outlets were not the authority on a particular product. Most of the time they will just call the product anything they want. It's not like there are other Dragon Ball Kai related albums out there calling themselves Dragon Ball Kai Original Soundtrack 2.
- Well, I guess you guys are right. Toei Animation's offical store lists it as "Dragon Ball Kai Original Soundtrack 2." Sorry if I caused any confusion! D4c3nt3n0 (talk) 00:51, 17 October 2009 (UTC)

Work
editI'm going to remake this into an actual list of soundtracks, instead of whatever it is now. Might take a while, I'm going to add prose to all the sections and move away the singles list, since they're not soundtracks at all.★Trekker (talk) 16:43, 8 January 2019 (UTC)
- Considering make a list of songs.
- while unreleased, it seems odd there is no mention of the GT soundtrack. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2600:1700:5F80:F340:60CC:EA2C:AC36:8200 (talk) 20:14, 20 February 2020 (UTC)
