Merger proposal

edit

The Southern California version is superfluous. The List of California Area Codes is comprehensive and contains the area codes for all of California, there is no need for one that just talks about Southern California. It is only more work that we would have to always synchronize, especially since there are new overlays constantly being created... Additionally, we can reorganize these by geography or by county or something. Valley2city 07:15, 4 January 2007 (UTC)Reply

I prefer it in numerical order, but can we also have a timeline (with references to which ones were split from where)? I seem to remember my grandfather (who worked for AT&T before the breakup) claiming all of California was once only 3 or 4 area codes.... 68.6.178.220 (talk) 03:02, 10 February 2009 (UTC)Reply

Yes, the original scheme in 1947 had only 213, 415, 916. LincMad has lists of recent splits, but I don't know of a list of splits before 1995 (other than my own, taken years ago from LincMad and other sources). —Tamfang (talk) 23:55, 11 June 2009 (UTC)Reply

Don't merge....

I have rights to distribute certain products to SOCAL only. I can target the area codes and then call the numbers I have in my database. Why would anyone want to lump everything into one basket? —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 66.232.12.162 (talk) 20:05, 29 March 2007 (UTC).Reply

Map

These maps are so, so shitty. Does anyone have any better versions? Ones that weren't drawn in Microsoft Paint? -Branddobbe (talk) 07:34, 25 August 2008 (UTC)Reply
