Contested deletion
editThis article should not be speedily deleted for lack of asserted importance because... it is about an important contemporary artist. I am currently editing this page for more info. Please give me time to update this page. Wanted to save to get page going. -Ngeasle (talk) 21:11, 30 March 2014 (UTC)
Laylah Ali "has received significant coverage in reliable sources that are independent of the subject". Therefor she meets notability requirements as defined by Wikipedia, here: https://en.wiki.x.io/wiki/Wikipedia:Notability . I have added a couple citations that clearly demonstrate this, a New York Times review of her work and a reference to her participation in both the Venice Bienniale and the Whitney Biennial. Categories
editThis article should have both the following categories: Category:American contemporary artists AND Category:African-American contemporary artists (a non-diffusing subcategory of Category:American contemporary artists) otherwise African-American contemporary artists may be ghettoized when “Category:American contemporary artists” is removed from their pages! — Preceding unsigned comment added by 209.40.81.254 (talk) 15:50, 21 March 2018 (UTC)
