This paragraph deleted as the first sentence is illogical - "It has been suggested Curran's career in politics was damaged by his daughter's murder, with some Unionists refusing to have anything to do with him, due to the mysterious circumstances surrounding the case.[2] However this is anachronistic as he had left politics for the bench before his daughter's death. 81.151.64.123 (talk) 18:22, 17 February 2009 (UTC)Reply

I have removed a lot of material which was given undue weight in such a short bio, as it is not about the subject of the article. It would be much better suited to an article on his daughter, or the man who was originally convicted of her murder (if either are sufficiently notable). I also removed the image (since the fair use claim was not valid, it does not illustrate the subject of the article) and some weasel worded claims about his habits which was sourced to little more than gossip. I would like those parts to stay until sombody creates an article on the murder alone. It is interesting and useful for readers even if in the wrong place. Of course the fact that some writers accuse the Judge and or his wife of being their daughter's killers, (and indeed her brother), it seems more relevant and appropriate to stay. This is especially true as there is a TV drama on the subject tonight. --Fynire (talk) 12:26, 26 October 2009 (UTC)Reply
Yes, a TV drama, which is a fictional representation dreamed up by some screenwriters. If you wish to write detailed material about the murder of his daughter, then you should create that article. You should also make sure that everything you add is sourced and not speculative or slanderous. At best, giving WP:UNDUE weight to this incident in such a short biography would result in serious WP:COATRACK issues, its even more of a problem that we are dealing with what is essentially gossip and speculation [1]. Curran my be dead, but that does not give us carte blanche to speculate that he played a role in his daughter's death based on a fictional TV show. Rockpocket06:30, 28 October 2009 (UTC)Reply
i was a residentent in Glenview gardens whiteabbey at the time of 1952 until 1960 and was totally aware of the problem living close to the mill and the glen - my opinion was never considered important due to my race and religion - bye pauline 78.149.29.57 (talk) 19:02, 10 November 2022 (UTC)Reply
It's an awkward problem. Judge Curran's sole real claims to fame are his daughter's murder -- where he may or may not have covered up his wife's guilt and colluded in ruining an innocent man -- and the fact that he later sentenced to death the last man ever to be hanged in Northern Ireland, who was also probably innocent. If that isn't discussed, you're left with a man of very little distinction. Now, if we focus on Judge Curran rather than his family, then it's at least remarkable for a senior jurist to obstruct justice to the point of preventing police from searching the house, which is a matter of record, so I think that should go in, as should the death sentence for McGladdery. But yes, on the whole I agree that there should be a Patricia Curran Murder page that deals with the particulars of the case.Sartoresartus (talk) 02:58, 12 September 2011 (UTC)Reply
