The way in which someone spells their own name is never a misspelling. It's a variation. Prior to a century and a half ago, the idea of standardized spelling barely existed in regards to common nouns, verbs, etc. -- and it applied even less so to the rendering of proper nouns as written words. Would you really tell somebody "you and your parents don't spell your name correctly?
It's not relevant to describe this as an "old name." How many "new names" are there? How long must a name be used before it becomes "old?"
All surnames are occasionally hyphenated (at least in French, German, English, Spanish and other European languages with which I am familiar) so it makes no sense to mention it without giving examples.
