To give an article about a lake that is obviously named for a person - and w/o saying anything about that person or even giving his whole name, is a serious lacking. I think that his name was James Martin, but I am not sure, and I don't know anything about him. Somebody ought to go find out - because it is an obvious requirement for an article like this. For example, in other articles, it is mentioned whom these places were named for: Lake Champlain, the Hudson River, Dallas, Texas, and so forth.72.146.52.153 (talk) 23:01, 5 November 2008 (UTC)
External Link
editHello, there is an article here, http://www.encyclopediaofalabama.org/face/Article.jsp?id=h-1190, that might merit an external link. Thanks, Justin --65.81.141.186 (talk) 14:54, 3 April 2009 (UTC)
I have lived on the lake all my life and have never heard Sand Island called anything but that. Just because a couple tourists decided to call it something else doesn't constitute a name change. It's still listed as Sand Island on all maps of the lake I own, including one dated Summer 2009. So I changed it back. 66.168.228.64 (talk) 19:55, 15 July 2009 (UTC)
