I want to add that 9 species of plants found on the (cold, windswept and) stormbeaten summit of Humphrey's Peak of the San Francisco Mountains near Flagstaff in Arizona were brought back from Lady Franklin Bay by Lt. A.W. Greely, according to Dr. Clinton Hart Merriam in 1892 in his report for the U.S. Department of Agriculture I believe, entitled Life Zones and Crop Zones of the United States. This shows the dramatic cooling effect of altitude, that these two spots in the world have almost the same climate, or at least the same plant species. Clayton L. If you need further information, I will be happy to help you. S2008June22
