Fair use rationale for Image:Marakkar Stamp 2000.jpg
editImage:Marakkar Stamp 2000.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.
Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.
If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images lacking such an explanation can be deleted one week after being tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

A query
editWas the family of Kunhali Marikkars engaged in the defense of Calicut, or were they trying to protect the Arab monopoly over the pepper trade? For, once the ocean route to Europe opens, the Arab monopoly through the gulf region that extended to the Mediterranean Sea would vanish. Arabs were quite entrenched in Calicut with some village given to them to have wives and families on the Malabar coast. The profit in pepper trade has been mentioned as 3000 percent. --Ved from Victoria Institutions (talk) 07:14, 3 March 2012 (UTC)
Grammar and other corrections
editThe sequence of events was jumping around in past and present tense, so I have corrected it.
Sword of Kunjali
editThis may have been a sword captured by Kunjali, but has it been proven that he had used it in combat? It looks very European in structure used for stabbing and the Mappila swords were broad, used for hacking. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 5.66.180.13 (talk) 20:52, 18 June 2017 (UTC)

Kunhali Marakkar → Kunjali Marakkar – Kunjali is the most common name. Google suggests "Did you mean: kunjali marakkar" if searched kunhali marakkar. The 1967 film is Kunjali Marakkar, name of Indian navy's air base INS Kunjali, Kunjali Marakkar School of Marine Engineering, Kunjali Marakkar Museum, Kunjali Marakkar Memorial Museum. Kunhali is also correct. Kunjali is more widely used though. --Let There Be Sunshine 09:55, 27 September 2018 (UTC) --Relisting. - Indifferent. So long as one redirects to the other and readers can easily find what they're looking for, what does it matter? Narky Blert (talk) 07:55, 29 September 2018 (UTC)
- Then there's no problem in moving as well. Per WP:COMMONNAME, it should be Kunjali Marakkar, whereas there's no reason to keep it Kunhali Marakkar. Shouldn't we give it the proper name ? Why do we follow the uncommon.--Let There Be Sunshine 06:43, 1 October 2018 (UTC)
- Support. Agree with nominator. Kunjali Marakkar is the most spelt. 137.97.130.146 (talk) 16:24, 7 October 2018 (UTC)
