Proposed merge of Draft:Kjerstin Braathen into Kjerstin Braathen

edit

Draft has information that supplements information in article and can be merged in. Robert McClenon (talk) 23:17, 3 July 2021 (UTC)Reply

This is a sensible suggestion and I have invited Pokebowl to collaborate. I should however point out that Braathen did not study at Skema Business School which was founded in 2009. She studied at the École supérieure de commerce in Nice, graduating in 1995. Other details of her professional life could be included, especially her involvement in Vipps. If Pokebown does not respond within a couple of days, I'll see what I can do myself.--Ipigott (talk) 14:25, 4 July 2021 (UTC)Reply
Thank you, interesting development here! I am quite new to this, started off with wondering why Kjerstin Braathen did not have a page in English. She heads a bank which is among top 15 in Europe by market cap. As for Skema Business School, its foundation in 2009 appears to be a merger which included the school Braathen went to. She is already listed there as a noteable alumni for Skema Business School. I am not on top of the rules here when it comes to continutation of alumnis from a now-merged entity. Please go ahead with the page, I will follow and learn. --Pokebowl

Notability

edit

Thank you, Robert McClenon, for taking the time to review this article. First of all, I apologize for not noticing there was already a draft at AfC. (I can't remember the draft showing up when I created the article but perhaps I was not sufficiently attentive.) I simply wrote the article on the basis of sources I found myself as at WiR we are trying to improve coverage of women in banking and finance. I am however really surprised you tagged this article for notability. I believe the secondary sources I have referenced testify to her key position as CEO of Norway's top banking concern. Maybe articles about Norwegians do not coincide with Wikipedia's primary interest in the English-speaking world but this person nevertheless deserves recognition. I could have included many more sources in Norwegian but I tried to choose a few which would be more meaningful to those who do not understand the language. I suggest you look at them more carefully. You may then feel the notability tag is inappropriate.--Ipigott (talk) 14:25, 4 July 2021 (UTC)Reply

As for your fansite tag, I can assure you I have no connections with financial institutions in Norway or this person in particular. Maybe the level of language was at times rather too enthusiastic. I am grateful to MerielGJones for toning it down a bit. My interest in Scandinavians stems simply from the fact that my wife is Danish, I speak the languages and spend quite a bit of my time in Denmark. I have created well over a thousand biographies of Scandinavian women but this is the first time I've been accused of writing an article from "a fan's point of view". I do not often write BLPs. Perhaps I should avoid them in future. It is tempting to draw on comments made by the subject of articles but can see that this leads to serious problems.--Ipigott (talk) 14:25, 4 July 2021 (UTC)Reply

Such tags are derogatory and this is a BLP of a respectable businesswoman. Her predecessor does not have such tags and so neither should she. Andrew🐉(talk) 17:54, 8 July 2021 (UTC)Reply
