Lack of clarity under Journey to the West

edit

The section about King Yan's appearance in Journey to the West is confusing in that it describes a dream and then implies that Sun Wukong may actually be performing subsequent actions, without a clear stated end to the dream sequence. The same character is also suddenly stated to be breaking out of handcuffs and rope that was never mentioned to be placed on him. Finally, once King Yan is actually involved, it is unclear whether his quotation is sincere or sarcastic when he states Sun Wukong must have been taken into Hell by mistake. Perhaps all of this would be clear to a reader of Chinese cultural background who is familiar with the novel in question, but as long as this article is in English, it should provide further clarity for those unfamiliar. 207.191.201.66 (talk) 19:57, 13 January 2025 (UTC)Reply
