King Kong inspired the modern day legend of the Loch Ness Monster.

edit

"It is believed that King Kong inspired the modern day legend of the Loch Ness Monster."

Nonsense. Who believes this? Tales of the Loch Ness Monster pre-date the release of King Kong. Tales of monsters in the lake go back to medieval times. The first photo of the creature was taken the same year the movie was released, but it's doubtful the film had made its way to Scotland by then. 2601:643:8D00:970:4901:BF0C:C666:A5D1 (talk) 05:21, 11 September 2023 (UTC)Reply

Before reading this talk page, I spotted that same sentence and made some changes to it. "It is believed," without any more detail, is a perfect example of weasel words. It also suggests a level of certainty (although still incomplete) that is unjustified, as 2601... points out. "Who believes this?" indeed. So I put in the name of the single person, as far as I can tell, who believes it and reduced it to suggesting it. I also put in another link to a source much closer to Loch Ness than New Zealand is.
