MoS question

edit

Should the closing "PEGIDA AFD. NOORD" be italicized or not when using [sic]? If not, is there a way to remove the italicization? The original closing was not italicized. It's a similar problem with italicized Greek text using the template (unrelated, but seems to conflict with the MoS). Thraex64 (talk) 07:19, 21 June 2020 (UTC)Reply

Edit: it's in the template settings under 'Add more information' > 'Italicise', and there's a template for [sic]. Thraex64 (talk) 01:53, 23 June 2020 (UTC)Reply

Yes, it should, as it's in a foreign language. Why would we use {{sic}}? Is it an obvious error? Walter Görlitz (talk) 05:17, 23 June 2020 (UTC)Reply
Thanks for looking into this. I didn't consider how it can be interpreted and I'm not a linguist, I tried using it because it's more accurate and most people generally consider accuracy desirable in an encyclopedia over stylistic considerations (also important). Thank you for mentioning MOS:PUNCT and correcting the curly quotes. Thraex64 (talk) 06:06, 23 June 2020 (UTC)Reply
Edit: sorry for the argumentum ad populum but I don't agree with this arrangement. Thraex64 (talk) 08:47, 23 June 2020 (UTC)Reply
Edit: shouldn't "Nederland Wordt Beter" and "Zwarte Piet Niet" be italicized as well following this rule? I don't think this rule should be applied in this particular context. Hope somebody can clarify this. Thraex64 (talk) 11:39, 26 June 2020 (UTC)Reply
The MoS is that foreign words should be identified as such. In this case the {{lang}} template should be used rather than applying italics because of the reasons supplied in the template. Walter Görlitz (talk) 12:49, 26 June 2020 (UTC)Reply

Threats?

edit

The articles says that "KOZP and some members of the Dutch public" use "meetings, threats and protests...". There is no citation to the claim that KOZP uses threats. I tried to google it but found only articles about threats against KOZP. I added a Citation Needed tag for now. Teaparty (talk) 17:57, 15 October 2024 (UTC)Reply
